Another 73-87 bites the dust...or snow :(
« on: January 04, 2008, 06:47:36 pm »
I wrecked my truck tonight. I wasn't hurt, all I got was a little cut from a piece of glass.I was traveling on a state highway when I came to a patch of ice. The wind was blowing hard enough to where I noticed I had to fight it to keep the truck straight. As soon as I hit the ice it blew the truck across the road and into the ditch and rolled 1 time. Although it was only 1 roll, the truck is way beyond repair. I believe the frame/drivetrain is still ok, but the body is trashed. I had over 20,000 in this truck and I doubt I get anything from insurance because it was ice that caused it.

Here is the build up of this truck.

I will get pictures of the wreck tomorrow. It got dark tonight too fast for pictures.

That sucks! Reading over your build up, you had a little love into that truck...thats a shame.
Unless you have some kind of specialty insurance, book value would be my guess if you have collision coverage. I always tell myself there is a silver lining here somewhere, somehow when something happens to me. Good luck in finding yours.

Glad you're all right.  If you choose not to rebuild another (from some crazy reason), I'll take your drive train...man i remember that burn out video.  Nice.
That was a real nice truck.  Good luck on rebuilding another.

SgtDel I am going to take a better look at it tomorrow but the frame seemed to be in good shape. I would pull the body off and sell it to you with frame, engine, trans, transfer case, axles, drive shafts, wheels, tires everything. The truck only had around 5,000 miles on it. I am at college and just cannot afford to build one nor have the time. I just need the money to get something to drive back and forth to college.

Glad your ok. I also read and watched the video you sure had a lot of blood & sweat in that truck hate to see you have to give it up. It would be nice  if we could take up a collection of parts to donate for the rebuild, heck I might have a door or 2 I'am not going to use.

Thanks for the thought and kindness JRCONNIEK10, but it would take an entire new body and money I do not have. The only piece that can be reused is the hood.

I remember how the college days were....money was never around.  Heck, I had to drink Milwaukee's Beast because it was so cheap.

Get some foreign gas sipping jobby 'til you're out of college.  Put it on monthly payments. If I were you I'd hold on to remains of your ride 'til you're out of school. If you have a place to store them. Then put her back together w/ new cab and bed, etc.

My wife would kill me if i were to take on another project---I have 5 vehicles outside my house right now--my 383 gives me the thrills I need now.

That burn-out video is sure a good marketing tool--someone will want that if you are serious about getting rid of it.

Throw some pics on here.

Too bad your not close by, I'd give you my old cab and a couple of fenders and doors. But it's good that you didn't get to injured. Good thing those trucks are built to be tough.

The Chevy gods where definitely watching over you.  ;)
