How hard is it to convert to manual windows?

Right now I have power windows because that's what the truck came with but I hate them.  Power windows aren't reliable enough for me and they're just too dang slow!  Heh heh.  What needs to be done for such a conversion?

You have to change the regulators and install cranks, modifying the door panels. You should know what you are doing when attempting such a task because if you screw up you can chop off a finger or two.

Well if you remember the Get To Know thread, I do construction.  If I was gonna lose a finger it probably would have happened already.  :)   You know, like years ago when I was learning to use everything.  Heh heh.

You make it sound easy!  Guess I'll grab a regulator and see what kind of magic I can work.

Just remove, clean,  and WD-40 the heck out of your existing regulators.  Pay attention to the nylon rollers, and replace them if they have flat spots.  Clean and grease the tracks with white lithium, and the window (glass) guides with silicon lube (spray type that dries with no residue).  Put it all back together and your window will pick up 2.6 seconds 0 to 60.  I did this 3 years ago because mine were so slow I was embarassed to use them.  They still work almost like new.

This would save you a lot of hassle, and you wont have to get new door panels or patch the holes for the switches.

I was just gonna leave the switches.  Heh heh.  I'll try your suggestion out though!

Going from power windows to manual is one thing.  Try going from manual windows to power once!  Talk about a PITA!

Shops around here do it everyday for $150 a window.

door panels

I'd imagine you'd have holes where power window buttons are, just find some door panels with out power windows, I'm assuming since its a Silverado, you probably have power locks? I know they have door panels with manaul windows and power locks, our 82 surb has em.

I dont know what the inside of a door with power windows looks like on these trucks, but you probably need the hand crank, just pick em' up aftermarket, can't be too much. Alot cheaper than adding power windows
