well this turns the rust into a black acid-burnt appearance.     i have use some rust killlers before and they are alright i guess.

Most of those coatings convert rust (iron oxide) into an inert black oxide.  I've used it in areas where I will not epoxy.  The material data sheet for my epoxy says not to apply over rust converter.  This is the stuff I've used with good results: http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=15974&itemType=PRODUCT&path=1%2C2%2C389%2C390&KickerID=347&KICKER

Similar to Naval Jelly. Loctite, Permatex makes it too

You have to nuetralize it after your done. the acid does not just go away. a white residue will come through your paint if you dont, at least, that's what happened to me.

Eastwood's rust converter, converts rust to black oxide - it does not get the rust off, it converts it.  NO Neutralizing required.  Just mix, spread and let dry.  That's why I picked it.

I am not getting paid to advertise for Eastwood, but I have used this and it works as described.  I used it on my frame with the rust encapsulator and chasis black.
