lol yea we did, my bad well i have been grinding all the old rusty hangers rivets but the back rear spring hangers, i want to save and i did not want to mess them up with the grinder. i could probably get them being very careful and work slow but the front ones are good and a grinder wont fit i just want to take them off because rust might be behind them but i dont know.

Whew!  I thought I was getting more forgetful with age (my wife says I am  ::))

If you have access to an oxy/act torch (and have moderate skill) you can "wash" the heads off the rivets, and not damage the hanger.  I don't remember if you can gain access from the backside. (Grind them off the back, and drive them through)

Take a die grinder with a cutting wheel. cut an "x" in the head of the rivet.  then knock the head of with an air chisel.  lots of noise and time consuming but works pretty good.  i probably did thirty rivets like that on my frame.

I just recently stripped 3 frames of all the brackets to do a 2wd to 4wd conversion. I used a torch to burn the heads off then a air chisel with a punch end in it. I tried to only use the torch on the side that I was not using but sometimes I had to cut the head off on the side I was using, in that case if the rivet didn't come out for me then I used a grinder to remove the rest.

years ago I had to remove all the cab mounts from a frame to install on another. I just used a cold chisel with a good edge on it and a big hammer.

Make sure that you have removed every bit of the head and keep pounding. You will get it.

ok well this post and project has been over for sometime but have not got a chance to explain back in the winter my project was not going any where and money was hrad so i looked at the one thing that i was not using at the time and the olny thing i had to get some cash and first things first all I had was a frame, a cab, and 2 axles so there was not much there for a project, but I know a lot of people start from scratch.  Anyway, since my block was cracked it just pee'd me off more than ever so that put me down on my project some.  and then come needing some cash, so I took all the metal around my house and scrapped it and things got worse so I scrapped the axels and what ever else I could find.  I just sold some parts to a good friend of mine, that helped me out alot!  but since I am out of the hole now, I am trying to find me a 67-72, going for a new body style.  Chris would you please take this post off and thanks for all your help and advice that was given to me.  I will have another 73-87, just right now I am looking in to another body style because of my project.

thanks
