What is your current projects/status?
« on: December 12, 2005, 11:13:00 am »
Well, mine are as follows:

Driver: replaced the EGR this weekend to stop code 32. Plans are to replace the Rally wheels with the aluminum ones off of this (front wheel)

73-87 Rolling advertisement.: Get the above Burb running/driving (it stalls and is throwing codes also) then take everything from the front doors forward off the above Burb (including drivetrain) and place it on this spare frame:

with the extra cab (not one pictured) and the bed

I have and part the Burb out.

78 GMC Jimmy: Sorting out the EFI wiring from this:

to put this TPI:

onto the engine to replace the Carb. Once the wiring is sorted out, then the tank will be dropped and the new EFI lines installed and routed.

73 captkaoscustoms.com (Su): Well, it is on hold... again, because I am trying to decide which truck will be getting the Corvette Suspension under it ( It is a currently between the Jimmy and Su, so...) and which cab to use the the 73-87 truck.

Plus I am trying to complete and post the following Articles to the web:
Replacing and EFI pump/dropping the gas tank,
Pulling codes from the ECM/Replacing EGR
the start of Coverting from Carb to TPI/EFI......

And add more products to the catalog....

All this has being juggle during the past 7 weeks around the fact that my wife had foot surgery...

I don't have any pics at the moment to share, but here is where I am at.

I have to buy a fuel pump, trans dipstick, alternator, and battery.  Once I have these pieces, I can install them and finally fire up the big ol 468 for the first time.  I can't wait!

My bed should be going in for bodywork come January, once it is finished, the truck will get it's final paint...hopefully that means by summer.

In between all of this, I need to do some minor rear suspension work, get the posi rebuilt (or replaced), buy tires, and finish my interior.

Bottom line...I am beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel.  :)

Currently saving for a new engine- been thinkin about a 305 instead of a 350, and building it up per the thread on this site. I dunno, still planning that one.
also, I have a new reman'd TH400 by Monster Motorsports sitting on the garage floor waiting to go in.
also, gotta get a paint job. Then brakes. Then finish the interior. Then new wheels. Then , oh geez there goes the $$- no more left til next year.
BTW Roundedline.. What happened to Mrs. Roundedline's feet? Injuries from kickin all that junk aside trying to get to her car?:lol

still aquiring parts.  have a mint 84 Lwb frame, 76 12 bolt rear with 3:73 posi, new doors, 73-80 fenders and inners,  76 bed excellent conditon, gonna use the 86 cab and body harness,  have the lt-1 and harness, just need a few trinkets like a fuel pump etc.  But I keep getting side tracked,  (wife wants fuel injection kit on wrangler first ,happy wife = more parts trucks in yard with out conflict) and gotta get heat in garage set up, (any one got spare pellets for stove?)  and now I am in the midst of aquiring an 86 K3500 HD dump with live power pto ,non-emission 350 with four speed trans (granny +3)   it took a hit in the "snoot"  but i have the spare parts to fix it (don't we all?) best of all it may be free since the salvage yard needs to clean up and it has to go quick.  its an addiction alright.  steve

Here is a pic of my 74 2wd blazer the day after I bought it off ebay in july 2002

Did not like the gangster wire wheels and white walls nor did I like the pink. The blazer was clean and rustfree and a one owner vehicle. I decided to strip it down and built it the way I want it. That is the beauty of these trucks...there are all kinds of routes you can take to build them to your liking and it's fairly cheap to do so.
First thing I did was went to the local used tire shop and traded these ugly wheels for some rally wheels.

My baby girl was 9 months old at the time and I din't realize how much of my time she would require so the project set idle for about 3 years. Here she is giving me her 2 cents.

Bought this for the drivetrain front clip and wiring harness. Paid $1500.00 for this great running and driving 89 sub with new motor in it. Didn't have the heart to tell the old man I bought it from what my plans were for his baby.

I have all the parts now to build it how I want but just need to get my butt in the garage and start working and snapping more pics.

Here is a pic of it stripped

No pics  ( still need to learn how to post them and get them all developed ) but I am still pluging away at my 86. It a daily driver work / plow truck so the emphisis is on long gevity not show n shine, not to say its not shiny, just little dings etc. are painted over. Its all painted except the bumpers, grill, and wheels. Bed is sitting on but not bolted down. Have a new floor mat ( thanks Rounded line ) Still need to install it and rest of interior. Visor needs to be installed, finish up some wiring odds and ends, installed a second after market fuse panel for plow lighting, sterio, etc. Painted the drip rails, grill trim, mirrors, door handles etc. last night. ( I hate crome / stainless )
using and 81 bumper and going to run fog / driving lights in the directional holes, rear bumper is a peice of 8" I beam. Still need to buy some tires.

Its a 76 with mid 80 doors and .060 350 with a th400. Didnt have alot of time for body work so I did the best I can with time I had (significant other). It looks ok. Im just trying to get it together so I can have a ride again. After I get it back on the road plans are calling for a cowl hood and a new door for the right side and maybe a motor rebuild..... considering. After I get finished with the 76 me and my brother are going to get started on a 62 chevy step side which is partly been worked on. Sorry for the only one picture there has been more put back on the truck since.

I have no pics, But I first strip down the truck to cab and frame. The more I removed the more rust and years of dryed mud and grease like concrete. I clean it all by hand, took forever. Still have to finish the front crossmember. So the frame is 95 percent done. All the engine parts bracket have been painted. The cab is the next big project with all the rusted parts.
Still like everyone family kids heath problem take most of my time. My sons 89 chevy 1500 is the current project First Truck for him. SO its cool to get him started down the road. Its hard to not just jump in there and do some of the work for him.

my truck has been sitting for the past month thanks to a broken push rod. we went to rebuild the motor and 2 of the threaded holes for the heads were stripped, so we bought a rebuilt motor. i'm replacing anything i can afford to now, focusin on my motor and drive train. i also ordered a smooth rollpan with a 59" flushie led

pulled it out...it was caked in oil as you can tell

my exhaust setup will be shorty headers, followed by an elbow pipe, followed by these. it's gonna be one loud SOB

here's the new motor installed, i have a new intake that will be going on there. i'm waiting until next summer to paint it black, unless i can find a place that'll rent out a booth, but this silver paint is actually growing on me

quick ms paint rendering of what the taillight will look like...

and finally, a side shot, showing that everything is shaved, starting from the front: turn signal, badges, mirrors, drip rails, handles, then tail lights

Mine are two at the moment.
First:1978 K-10
Have to come up with a good bed for it. Have to get new front fenders since the previous  owner installed flares and beat the fenders with a sledge to make the flares fit right.  Need to do floorpans(I love Missouri).  Finally, have to build an engine for it.  Overheated this one when the water pump died on me w/out my knowledge, added ne heads, new bearings, new timing set, new belts, ne alternator, diesel 4 row radiator:evil , 180 thermostat, hooker headers, 2.5 inch pipes, Flowmaster 40's, and 4" echos.  Now it uses oil... a lot, but is was also blowing it out the valve covers(old gaskets).  Finally, the timing on the cam and its duration and lift requires me to set the timing for 10 degrees advance.

Second:  1985 K-20
found this in a local junkyard.
Built 350 w/ vortec heads
TH400 NP208
3.42 9.5" 14bolt
3.42 Corp. 10 bolt
hit a tree with the bed, paint is junk.
no wheels or tires, needs flexplate.
$700.00 originally, kid backed out and stole wheels and tires.
Going to try to get it cheap.  I have a set of 8 lug ford 1973 rims with 35" boggers on them, would those fit the K-20 well enough to get it on a trailer and get it home?

I have 3 current projects going on:

1. 1990 Mustang GT
Ripping out the weak 302 and swapping it with a beefy 429 BB

2. 1980 Chevy C-10 350 just installed bucket seats, next thing will be lowering.

3. 1989 Ford F-150 Lariat XLT 4x4 needs new 302...

Not going to mess with the '85 now.  The '78 with it's current 2100 miles on the rebuild 350 decided to begin idling at 1600RPM's and sputter and miss all the time.  So, Pulled the engine and began to get ready to build my new 350 using my "010 020" thick wall block.  Should be fun once I am finished.

Here is my status.....
Aquiring parts for the 1980 to 89-91 front end swap.

Have dash out to find a new one and pulled windshield out to fix a rust spot.

Relocating battery to bed of truck and previous pics shows cable kit from summit racing.

Next 2 pics show engine after cleaning....Used to look brand new under here(including frame), but she sat in body shop for almost 2 years and sat outside for a winter.
