It was a very sad day today
« on: March 31, 2008, 05:49:37 pm »
It was a very sad day today, I went to see my baby for the last time.  I gently removed my contents from her sitting room, cut her homemade ears (speakers) from behind my sitting place, it felt oh so good to feel the plush, like new seating surface and I dared not to put my grubby feet on her now naked carpeting (took my floormats) my wife got 'em for me for CHRISTmas.  Cleaned out the glovebox, and left a note in there, for next owner to come to this site on how to fix her and find parts. And when I took my stuff out of her backend, I asked the guy that was writing down what I was taking out of her, Do you mind turning your back,  I want a momento.  He said sure, " I didn't see anything"  And I gently removed the Bowtie from her shiney grin.  To make matters worse, when we got to the yard, they delivered my baby to me on a" shish-ka-bob machine"  ( heavy duty hi-lo) I felt a tear as they gently set her down in front of me.  And as they gently picked her up again, I felt a tear gently rolling down my cheek....  My wife looked at me and said, we're both gonna miss her......... :'(

May the Chevy Gods watch over her.  :'(

As I have said before, I have no place to store her, while waiting to find the parts.  I am going to buy an S-10 with a V6, extended cab.  Will be going to Florida to make my purchase in about a month, till then stuck sharing Ford Focus with wife ;).

Well bigtendude, I hate to see you lose your truck after having it so long. It sure was a nice truck. Just glad you weren't hurt on the ice. If I wasn't a Buckeye by birth I would wish you well, but you know how it is... :D :D
Ok just kidding- I do hope things go well for you and you prosper in everything you do.

I hope we haven't seen the last of her.  Who knows, perhaps in six months, she'll have pics back up on this site looking as good as ever.  She was a real beaut.

Boy thats pretty bad I hate to see her go sounds like you two had a pretty good thing but like others said I hope someone will get her and return her to her glory days. And to think last night I was in my garage fixing a tailight in my daughters car and tried to get her to sit in my truck with me to sing happy B-day to it, it was 20 years ago that I bought it. Well she's (my daughter) is 18 and seen no humor in sitting in it and singing with me.

Although we never had children, I can understand kids of this generation, I'll bet she said something like, "you're crazy dad" I ain't singing to a material thing!  Heck my wife once called my truck a "DOG", and I asked her why?  She said because it can't go in the snow.  It's true, But I told her that even if it was a 4 wheel drive, it still couldn't go in the snow, with 2 inches of ice under it. ;D. I told her I didn't know any 4 wheel drive that could.  And she surprised me when she said that she was gonna miss my truck also.  I think it's because I was out doing something or another with my truck all the time, mostly keeping it purty and clean.  Yes, it was a sad day.  Because of the area I live, the "HOOD" is getting bad, and alot of people would come out their front doors and watch where that pretty truck was going, heck, a couple of them ran down the block and watched me go around the corner and into the garage, then they retreated back to their holes.  I only had to approach one, one time in the driveway who was staring inside the locked door on the driver's side.  I approached him with a dbl. barreled shotgun and asked him if I could help him with anything?  He backed up, and said, No man, wer're cool dude, and ran like heck.  Since then, they no longer came out their doors to see where I went.  And in my garage, I bought a pair of those Radio Shack wireless intercoms, the one mounted on the wall in the garage next to my truck, I turned it on, and locked down the talk bar, and the one on my nightstand I turned on and turned the volume all the way up.  This allows you to hear conversations all the way across the street, gives ya time to load up your burglar alarm.  My alarm has a big bite and a louder BARK!   And yes, I miss her badly.... :'(

That is really sad, bigtendude.
I feel your pain... I lost a 1969 Chevy Nova several years ago, front end crumpled... still miss that car.
Big Ten was a beauty!  Hopefully someone will see your gal and resurrect her to her former glory.

My friend that showed me where he saw my big10 originally, before I bought her, said he is going to the auction and see who gets her and what her demise may be.  Hopefully he can persuade them to restore her to her former glory, and maybe she will show up on this site.  Wouldn't that be grand?  Maybe I could even go visit her. ::)
