Pipe plugs..where to buy.

Hello,

Can anyone advise me on where i could get a pipe plug to fill the sender hole in a Edelbrock performer intake.(nearest to thermostat housing).
I was gonna fit a switch to control the fans i'll be fitting but cant find a suitable piece to fit.
Any help is greatly appreciated..

My bro in law is a plumber and i had a look in his supplys the other day but nothing came close,found a multi set of plugs on that auction site but not sure if it contains the one plug i need.
Trial and error i suppose..

Not sure Blazin,i have a nut/bolt supplier locally who i usually use for stuff i cant get elsewhere,if i had the correct measurements he could probably fix me up...

Its Sae or Pipe , tube threads and you are looking at metric fittings . Got a pic ?

An autoparts store should have one. Be careful when installing one too, they are usually tapered and will crack the manifold if you overtighten it.

Maybe in your town but not here,i asked at a local major motor shop recently for a timing gun and they asked what it was and what it does..lol

well if it's a 1/2" pipe plug you could take the one out of the rear end lol

Yes its 1/2" NPT (same size as the plug in the cylinder head) and the smaller ones are 3/8" NPT.  Use a brass allen head plug, it will seal better and the plug will strip out before the manifold does.  I tried using a set of galvanized steel plugs from AutoZone all over my engine.  Every single one of them leaked no matter how tight (yes I used a thread sealer).  Replaced them all with brass, no problems now.  Also the sealer I used was teflon grease from ARP.

i've always been curious as to parts availability/accessability  for an American-made vehicle in other lands---such as England.  i suppose with worldwide couriers such as UPS, DHL etc. it's not a problem anymore?  i'm almost positive the above two companies ship to England as well as worldwide.

Even though i can virtually get any part i need from auto parts stores and/or the dealer, i, for the most part, end up getting them from the above two stores---and have them mailed to me;  So, i suppose, in the  end, it does not matter where you live.

I think it'll cost a bomb with summit as they require a $23 handling fee on top of the final price if i remember correctly.
I plan on shopping locally tomorrow so i'll be back with my findings asap..

Its real easy getting parts over here,but nothing i buy comes from the rip off merchants over here that call themselves dealers.
All parts come from ****AUTO and that auction site with a 4-5 day delivery time and half the cost.

Most hardware stores carry pipe plugs, but I don't know how many will carry the brass plugs.
