At least you admint that.  My first college roommate was from Suffolk New York.  My goodness, here I am 17 years old from the south with very little experience from anything outside of Va, and my roommate spoke like that.  I asked him one day if he ever pronounced R's. 

But he really pronounced "I" 's .     As in Five.  He would say F "eye" ve.  Really emphasizing the I.  Uncounsciously I would pick up a little of that and when I came home on some weekends, my parents would question my pronounciatios....he was rubbing off on me and I didn't realize it.

I know a guy that says Tyoda insteda of Toyota, and he insists thats how its said.
