1991 S-10 turn signal lever

hey on my 91 s10 the turn signal lever is all sloppy.-u hit the turn signal and the windsheild wipers go up half way up and u go for the windsheild wipers and the turn signal comes on.:lol  i m gonna replace it and was just thinkin bout how hard it would be- from the   pic it looks like it just kinda turns and pulls outwww. competitor.com/icatalog/cst/0117.html its # 22 but i dont really want to mess in the steering column if possible- ne advice on how to do that would be nice
