It's for the best.  You wouldn't want to bring a knife to a gun fight now would you?

Yea thats a good point.....But the truth be told i can only carry my gun 25% of the time anyways....Cant even take it to walmart with me...How crazy is that anyways? I got trained and licensed to carry my gun....But I'm told its a no no to take it in any store.....OK But thats not going to stop a felon that carries his gun anyways...Which is going to leave me and my family open to danger...So i have to just sit back and be a victim with what rights i have left..

What I dont understand is why didnt a couple guys (or women) bum rush they guy with the knife ? To stand there and do nothing when someone is screaming I would not be able to stand idly by as the driver was pulling the bus over

Well here in Ohio..And I'm sure other places it is against the law to carry a firearm in any store that prohibits it...And every store i see prohibits it..See  what i wounder is if i carry it on me in a store and defend my life with it is it still against the law?....And back to the bus....I would think that many of them went into shock. And to scared to do anything...I didn't read the full story but i think  its safe to say his life was over with the first stab wound and for any one to try and stop the man would just cause a uneasy risk

In Texas, anywhere but schools, govt buildings (court house, post office, police station, etc.), liqour stores, or any place that draws a certain percentage of its revenue from alcohol sales (not sure the percentage off the top of my head).  You need your pistol at Wal Mart more than most other places, LOL.

Wow, I always find that amazing at how easily a concealed gun can be carried in the US. You shouldn't feel so oppressed about carrying one or limitations. As far as I know here in Canada, you completely cannot not do it unless you are a cop or some kind of gov't agent licensed to carry a weapon. Security guards here don't carry guns either. Police and armored car personnel is about all that I ever see. I had some friends in Wash. state that had their CCW permits and it blew my mind when they said they had their Glock in their truck or tucked under their shirt just tooling around doing whatever.

As for the bus riders, I'm sure they were in shock but also when you see that kind of impromptu violence and in that close proximity, you just want to get the heck out of there and pray the attacker's attention and rage doesn't turn on you. If we had more lax gun laws, I would suspect people would be more brave to jump in, or just shoot.

Yeah, but if you listen to the liberals and their "statistics" there is a definite correlation between handgun ownership and murder/violent crime rates when comparing countries.  I have to agree.  Work to reduce the number of criminals that own handguns and the murder/violent crime rates will go down dramatically.  But what good removing them from law-abiding citizens will accomplish is beyond me.  It's huge responsibility (even a burden) no doubt and some simply aren't cut out for it, but those who choose to be responsible, law-abiding gun owners should not be prevented from protecting themselves and their families with this life-saving tool.

Amen Brother!

You know the new Supreme Court ruling , 5-4 by the way, ruled that D.C.'s gun ban was unconstitutional.  Yeahaw, the court finally did something right.   See my www.PonderedThoughts.com website under March 18 entry.

But, for 30 years, D.C. had the strictest gun ban/control in the country. Did violent crime go down in that 30 years?  Nope. Did violent crime increase in those decades? Yep

What does that prove?  Criminals will carry guns no matter the laws.  Law abiding citizens will not carry guns if it against the law.  Who would have the guns?  hmmmmm....

I'm packing all the time.  I dare some thug to come up and make me use it.  I qualify at work yearly with a 99.8% score, considered a Pistol Master. Come on pick on me.  I am tired of thugs getting 18 months for violent crimes only to hit the street again and commit 20 more crimes before they are caught again, only to hit the streets again in two years or so.

I love California's 3 strikes law--three felonies and you get life.  That is the only thing about California I like.  I hear of a theif who stole $5 from a pizza deliver man.  The public uproared because they say he got life because of $5.  NO! He got life because he didn't learn from the prior two convictoins/chances.

Build more prisons.  Give thugs more time in bars.

Glock Power!

I agree with that 100%  It would not be a bad idea if more states would pick up on the 3 strike law......

Yeah baby Glock, I love my model 17. I carry it almost all the time. I learned from my old man, growing up he always had his 45 on the seat next to him in the truck or on his belt. I carry mine in the post office too. I don't even think about it, plus the population in my town is approx 900 people. Main room of the post office is about 10 x 24, whole building is 24 x 40.
When I was a kid my father, and I where in McDonalds taking a break from Christmas shopping. This dirt bag at the counter started making a scene about his order not being right, the way he asked for it, he got all pissed off, left stating he would be back with his girl friend to prove to them he always has his burger the way he said they didn't make it etc. etc. My old man stated his feelings to me, and the people in close proximity. Several minutes go by the guy screeches to a stop in the middle of the driveway, gets out dragging his girl friend out the drivers side with him and in he comes dragging her along. He starts yelling and screaming, tells her to tell them, she is crying, the manager comes around the counter to diffuse the situation, the guy pulls out a 38 and starts waving it around. My old man stands up walks up to the front, takes the gun away with his left hand, and knocks the kid out cold with a right to his face! The cops show up, and when they find out my old man was wearing his 45 they start grilling him, even though he had a concealed permit to carry. Plus he was a licensed gun smith.
I have the utmost respect for a police officer, & firmen for that matter. They risk their lives for not nearly enough pay in my opinion, but there are allot of them that just don't think right.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
