Frame numbers, what do I have?
« on: November 13, 2016, 11:26:51 PM »
Got a frame for parts but I need to know what I have for sure.  He "said: it was an 84 1/2T but I need to run the numbers to make sure.  All I can find were numbers stamped on the side of the frame about at where the tank would be or the catalytic converter would be.  Are these of any use??

14055623
180 84 180 2 892
CES189908

What do I have?????  HELP.

Thanks all,

1st number is a GM part number. Most likely for that particular frame rail and not the entire frame.

3rd number is the sequence number from your VIN. The "S" denotes that your truck was built in StLouis, and the 6 numerals are the production sequence number. This number should match the number stamped into the tag pop riveted to your dash, and on the truck's title.

The 2nd number is probably a production date code. Or it could be missle launch codes. Not sure. But most likely a date code.

What year frame??
« Reply #2 on: November 17, 2016, 12:02:01 AM »
I got a donor truck but I need to know the year for sure.  Can you help a guy out?  I have looked all over the net, no luck.

The numbers on the top of the frame on the passengers side about at the cab/bed are:
CES189908

The numbers on the driver's side of the frame facing out at about the catalytic converter are:
14055623
180 84 180 2 892

Does any of this help??

The ces number is the vin sequence code, look up how to read a vin and that should tell you the year and plant the truck was manufactured
