cruise control / new motor? fuse?
« on: April 21, 2014, 07:38:38 PM »
ive got a 86. purchased with a newer rebuilt motor (350) from years 88-9? but converted back to holley carb 4 barrel carb, etc. I noticed the cruise control doesn't work and was wondering if it runs off a fuse, such as the radio? fuse is missing .... ??? or possibly wasn't hooked up with newer motor?

OK, I am not familiar with a 86, is the cruise built into the turn signal stalk ?  Did you look in the tech section in the manuals ?
Also in the tech section are the wiring diagrams.  So here is a excerpt from the 81-87 instrument pg.1 showing the only place I found mentioned for cruise control.  Someone with more experience with a 86 model will have to chime in, but for now you can look through the manual and wiring diagram and familiarize yourself with them.  (see #4 and to the right of the words, bottom left corner is the number 4 on the buss bar).

86 is GM Cruise III.  The Cruise III training manual and 1986 GM wiring manual are in the manuals tech section linked in the last post.

Is the cruise electronic vacuum pod still attached to the the throttle?
