Title: Decisions
Post by: frogman68 on December 09, 2008, 09:23:41 am
I have given up on the 88 Blazer's TBI set up I am torn between dropping in a 383
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVY-383-360-HP-4-BOLT-HIGH-PERF-BALANCED-CRATE-ENGINE_W0QQitemZ180311849922QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item180311849922&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1308

Or building from a 3970010 block with 3998991 heads (best I can find is 1.72 intake 1.5 exhaust)

Pistons http://www.jegs.com/i/Sealed+Power/844/8-KH618CP30/10002/-1 gives about 9.38 with current heads

Cam http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=CCA-CL12-234-2&autoview=sku

If I build it I can teach my son or do I just go for bigger power

I hate decisions

Valve spring question

Using Com Cams XE256h

States Valve lift .447 intake .454 exhaust

Can I use .550 or .500 springs ?

You'd save a lot of $ if you're building the 350 to just buy a rebuild kit from Summit. They have a complete engine kit with pistons for $200 bucks

Ville with the kits I dont get to pick and choose.

Piston on order should give around 9.5 to 1 compression

Heads that are on the engine were not the greatest just ordered some 76cc with 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust

using the XE256 cam should get me around 330 horse and almost 400 ft lbs of torque

I think that should be enough for the Blazer

You can choose your pistons you just have to call them.

I was looking at the vortec version of them manifolds, from what I understand those are just debadged edelbrock intakes.
