Bigblock it!!! ;D 450hp out of a 454 is alot easier and cheaper than a smallblock, and just has tha aaww (drool) factor when you pop the hood. See

Who's engine is that?
-
Thats the 427 for my choptop
-
What did you paint the heads with?
-
High temp chrome in a can. Id have to find the can to remember the name. It may not last, but looks good for now.

I think everyone here is a little jealous of choptop right about now. He's got himself an awesome gal.

the big block is real awesome looking and is cool also has lots of torque....but i like the small block for the rpms, i can crank my small block to the moon..lol.....that big block looks great tho, what are the specs..? did you build it for towing or somehting else..?
-
Id have to say its a mild bigblock, built for longevity. 425 hp/425 ftlb torque. Balanced, blueprinted, decked .100, Rehr Morrison built heads.4bolt mains, steel crank, Keith black pistons,280 cam Edelbrock 2-0 with a Holly 750.
Good cruising engine, but will handle more rpms than most.
-
way to go Choptop, hijacking this thread that is.

Sorry, Redneckabbott, it wasnt intentional. russ............. :P
-
not hijacking now :D

Thanks Capt

My bb hits 7k rpm no problem
-
I think this one is capable of 8500 redline, but the cam and everything else is specs to 5600 rpm max. After that, the hp/ torque curve fall, so it doesnt do any good to go higher. Im still waiting on the PO to get the dyno sheet for me.

Mine hits 8000 no problem.
-
I can rev higher too but I like to shift before red line.
-
The current drivetrain redlines at 7000, but I built it with a solid lift Crane with higher redline. I am going to change to a hydraulic roller this time around.
-
The roller and a good ignition system makes a huge difference.
-
That's impressive: big block AND 7k or higher redline. I'm scared to take my little small block past 5500 lol
