Hello everyone! been around this forum for a little while and am finding it very informative and helpful. I recently was injured at work so i had some time off to start digging into my truck like ive been wanting to for a long while.
this is my truck. 1974 stepside, 2wd, stock 350. its lowered a little. i bought the truck last summer, the previous owner had put a little work into the interior which was the main thing that sold me on the truck. also i live on the coast and it was an alberta truck so there was little to no rust on anything which is extremely hard to find around here.

ok so here is the best picture i had of the engine bay before i started, i wasnt really aware i was going to be making my own thread so bear with my early pics
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01678.jpg)
so since i was injured and off work i decided i would rebuild my leaky 350
heres the engine/tranny once i pulled it out, sorry about the limited amount of pics of the steps
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/NanaimoE-20120304-00128.jpg)
it leaked a little oil as you can see
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01725.jpg)
divorced and all mounted up on the stand, i rented a hot water pressure washer to take care of some of the exterior grease and oil buildup. it cut through like butter.
got the intake off and there was a little bit of baked on build up

took the valve covers off and noticed one of these umbrella guys was broken off and sitting at the bottom of the spring

heres a nifty little way of keeping your rocker assembly/pushrods organized, just drilled some holes on an old peice of 6x6 cedar

bit of a rough cylinder
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/NanaimoE-20120308-00177.jpg)
intake valves had bad seals so there is quite a bit of build, pretty much all the valves were as bad or worse then this :o
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/NanaimoE-20120312-00195.jpg)
didnt have any fancy rubber tubing to put on the rod threads when i was pulling the pistons. so i rigged up these ones made out of napkin and masking tape, worked like a charm 8)

so thats basically where im at as of today i dropped my heads and crank off at the machine shop earlier this week and they were ready today. dont have any pics of the work but i got a valve job and had to get new seats put in all the exhaust ports, and got the heads resurfaced. as for my crank they had to regrind the mains and just polished the piston journals. ill get pictures of it all tmrw
i ordered new valve covers because the ones on it were warped as shoot. i also picked up a new cam and lifters from the machine shop which was substantially cheaper and will be here in 1 or 2 days where as at lordco it would take 2 weeks or more cuz they have to order straight from comp in the u.s.
so this is my first time doing anything like this really, the only other build i have done really is the jeep you can partially see in one of the first pics, but didnt touch the engine in that one. i will most certainly run into some things that will stump me which is partially why im posting, so all you knowledgable folk out there can help me out ;D. there are some peoples build on here that blow my frickin mind and obviously some of you guys know your way around a chevy haha. so thanks for any help in advance. im going to try and take more pictures of my steps now that i know im making a thread. anyways sorry for the long-winded first post
-
First off welcome to the site. I have to say the best way to learn is jump in and start, and looks like you have done that step. I am partial to 74's, as mine is a step side 74 only a k10 that I am building from the ground up. It is a slow process but I do it to enjoy it so it will take some time.
I like your jeep, I have built jeeps for years and wheeled them all over the country. You will find some great info here on this site, so keep up the good work and keep up informed of your build. Good luck and may you be able to recover quickly so you can go back to work.

didnt get too much done today, but did some little things, honed the cylinders, and sand blasted a few peices. my cam and valve covers showed up which was nice, they only took one day.
heres my heads and crank back from the shop

heres my old covers idk if you can tell from the pictures but they are pretty dang warped and would hardly contain oil
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01753.jpg)
and heres my brand spankin new set, nothing special just there to get the job done.
some of the lobes were kind of rounded on my old stock cam so i figured why not and picked up this one

heres the parts that i sand blasted, the timing case, and oil pan i used a wire wheel on.

here are some pics of the cylinder hone, honestly im not really too sure how it went but they dont look to me like they are shiny or glazed anymore mayb someone can speculateon the junky pics
before

also heres some pics of my interior. decently clean but nothing fancy
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01773.jpg)
thats it for today just figured i toss you guys a few more pics cuz i always like the posts with lots of pics
-
Yes we like pics, those cylinders look Ok for a reg build, you are not building a 1000 hp engine I assume. Your interior looks better than mine does now (mine does not have one ;D).
Keep up the good work and the pics.
-
ye im just going for mainly stock the only real upgrade i have is the thumpr cam and new springs and lifters, and gunna get some headers. the only thing im slightly worried about on the hone is that there isnt really this cross hatch that everything keeps telling me there should be?
-
Nice stuff. Where in BC are you? I'm in Abbotsford. Welcome to the site!
-
You have to make the cross hatch by the speed you feed through the bore. A bottle brush hone is supposed to be more forgiving than the stone type. If you fire it up without something close to a 60 degree crosshatch you'll likely have a smoking engine right off the bat. Have you checked the size of the bores after honing to make sure you're gonna get away with just a hone?
-
@nucknoel89 i live on the island. i went over the bores a little more because some of them were still looking a little glazed when i looked at the mwhen they were all clean the next day and i went a little quicker up and down and now there is a little more resemblence to a cross hatch. i took my block to the machine shop when i took my heads and crank in and they put a mic to the bores and said i would be fine with just a hone. ill post more pics later today
-
ok so heres what i did today, after i thoroughly cleaned my block with soap and water then pressure washed and then blew it dry with a leaf blower and compressed air, this is what it looks like.
i put the upper main bearings in and threw some sealer on the rear main, laying a small bead in the little lip corner then smearing some on the rest of the flat surface as well as smearing some on the cap
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01807.jpg)
then i put the rear main cap on and torqued it and made sure the crank could still spin easily, then did so with each cap after
all lubed up
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01811.jpg)
then i went to work on my pistons, there was a lot of build up on them so it took a while this is how they turned out
before
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01813.jpg)
and after
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01815.jpg)
so tmrw i hope to get the bearing on the rods and all the pistons ringed and mayb get them in depending on how long i wana get at it.
also i have realized that my valve covers i bought only have two holes and i heard somewhere that you can just use one for a breather and the other for the pvc valve then just remove the pvc when i want to put oil in. is this a viable solution or should i look into something else?
-
I just remove the breather on mine. You will be fine either way. Keep the pictures coming I like lots of pictures as well.
-
I guess we can assume your not on worker's comp? ;)
-
heeeeck no :-X
-
I just remove the breather on mine. You will be fine either way. Keep the pictures coming I like lots of pictures as well.
I do this also as to not wear out the gasket for the PCV valve, it is important to have a good seal on the PCV.
-
ok i'll do that then, thanks guys
-
Let me take a wild guess, are you from the Courtenay Comox area, I remember seeing that truck when I used to live there.
Nice looking truck!
-
no, but i just bought it almost a year ago so it could have been from the previous owner but he lived in the victoria area so it could have been a case of mistaken identity haha, plus it was an alberta truck before that so it coulda been a look-alike
-
so i was going through all my camera pics to delete some cuz it was full i came across a picture of my old blazer i thought i would share with you guys. i had to sell it because at the time i was commuting about 50 km a day, and it was costing me almost $600 a month in gas. but man was it bad
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01589.jpg)
anyways back on the subject of my engine. Its coming along slowly but steadily. in the last couple days ive got a few things done but ive been waiting for some parts.
so first thing was to gap the piston rings, the rings i bought were pre gapped and all were within the tolerances but i still when through every one and i found it a very tedious task
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01824.jpg)
to get the rings square in the bore for measuring i pushed them down with an oiled up piston
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/IMG_3143.jpg)
instead of gaping all the rings at once i just gap two rings in the bore then put them on the respective piston
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01821.jpg)
made sure all the dots were in the second row facing up
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01822.jpg)
cheaped out on buying a ring expander and decided to use my thumbs. i will not make this mistake again because my thumbs were quite sore by the end of the 16th ring
fresh bearings
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/IMG_3144.jpg)
the guy at the machine shop gave me a set of these fancy blue piston socks for free ;D and i picked up this ring compressor for like 10 bucks at the part store which was nice
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/IMG_3146.jpg)
got all the pistons in
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/IMG_3149.jpg)
conveniently stamped so i knew exactly which way the caps go back on
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/IMG_3156.jpg)
the beast is finally out of the bag, i think the new cam is probably the most exciting part of this build for me
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01826.jpg)
when i looked at it close there was some fuzz stuck the the factory grease in some spots so i gave it a wipe down, it was mostly in the distributor gears. then i got 'er all lubed up with the special comp lube that came with the cam.
i put the gear back on to help ease the cam in, it was pretty stressful i really didnt wana ding any of my bearings
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01833.jpg)
lined up the dots and through the chain on. once i had it on it seemed to me to have a little to much play. so i went to the parts store and picked up a new chain and gears. i test fitted the chain on the old gears and it had the same amount of play. so i went back to the old chain and saved the $50. i had never dealt with the timing chain on one of these before but i figured better safe then sorry. but it turned out to be ok anyways.
so next i took apart my oil pump to see how the insides were doing
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01841.jpg)
if you look at the cap the scoring on the side nearest the top of the pic there is some pretty deep scoring in the middle circle you can see, also the gear teeth had definitely seen some debry. i didnt get a pic but they had lots of little scores and some deep ones too. then i snapped the little plastic fitting that holds the two shafts together but luckily a new one came in the box with my rear main seals. then later today i went to the parts store to get some odds and ends like timing case gasket and some other things and it turns out a new pump is only 36 bucks so i decided not to chance the old one and got a new one.
this is how it sits. i had already put the old pump on but ill just switch it out tmrw
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01844.jpg)
thanks for lookin
-
just a little update, got a new timing cover because the old one was pretty warped from being tightened down so much, and i didnt want to risk it leaking oil.
with the new seal pushed in, i just took a rubber hammer and layed a peice of wood across the seal and hammered it until it was in a bit, then finished it off with the rubber hammer
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01850.jpg)
heres a pic of my new pump with the old pickup on it
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01846.jpg)
this fell out of the pickup along with some other little pieces, im not really too sure what it is. almost looks like a little piece of the fitting form between the two shafts on the oil pump but im relly not sure
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01847.jpg)
so after i put the new pump on i got all the surfaces ready for gaskets
i smeared just enough sealer on the timing case surface so tha i could stick the gasket in place, they covered the other side of the gaseket with sealer once it was on.
timing cover on, as you can see i went with the nice shiny new bolts :P
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01853.jpg)
there was some of the sealer in the little nook on the rear main cap, so i had to scrape that off with a little screw driver before i could put the new seals in
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01849.jpg)
pan gasket on with sealer on both sides
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01855.jpg)
pan on and done for the day
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01856.jpg)
-
Looking good keep up the good work.
-
Really good work, I wonder if that piece you found was from your old oil pump/pickup tube ? Did you happen to look the old one over ?
-
thanks guys, @bake i took the old pickup off the old pump and put it on the new one. and the old pump had an orange fitting between the two shafts and was super brittle. and if you look at the pic of the piece it has a little ridge running through the middle of it like the oil pump fitting does, so im thinking that was probly it.
this is the fitting im talking about
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01841-1.jpg)
-
Looks good man. If you want to make priming the oil system a little easier pack that pump with some vaseline.
-
already have the pan on and id rather not pull it off and mess up the seal. what does the vaseline do to make it easier? does it just give it a bit of a better seal for suction type thing?
-

You got it. If you already have the pan on i wouldnt fret too much. If you do prime the oil system before you start it (which is a good idea) stay away from Harbor Freight oil pump prime tools. I wasted my money on one and it dint work worth a darn. Just took an old distributor and cut the top apart, ground the teeth off the cam gear, and chucked a drill on it. Good luck. Progress looks good so far.
-
ok well thanks for the heads up man, and ill have to try and find an old dist cuz just from a quick interweb search some of the "tools" they have for sale look pretty sad
-
its been slow the last couple days, and to top it off when i went to assemble my heads today and actually get some progress going, i had the wrong exhaust stem seals. the heads i have are from a 3/4 ton so as some may know they have beefier exhaust valves. so the seals i got (not the rubber o-rings) wouldnt fit on and i cracked the first one i tried putting the spring on. so i had to drive all the way back to the machine shop to get new seals because the parts guy at lordco wasnt sure about the difference between the seals, and neither was i. anyways ill have more pics tmrw and hopefully get some real work done.
also just a quick question for you guys, im wondering when i should actually paint my engine? i was thinking once i have the heads and intake already on. any input would be appreciated thanks.
-
got some updates.
heres a better look at my heads
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01865.jpg)
new seats and guides
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01860.jpg)
retainers and keepers all cleaned up
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01858.jpg)
so heres what happened when i tried to put the springs on with the smaller seals
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01872.jpg)
this is the bigger seals compared to the smaller ones, minute difference cant really tell from the pic
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01874.jpg)
head gasket in place, and head placed on top
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01875.jpg)
and here it is all torqued up and ready to go
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01877.jpg)
so i set the lash on all the valves, and went to prime the oil system. my drill wasnt too good and i dont think it could spin fast enough because i could get oil coming out of one side of rockers but just a bit of bubbling and spitting of oil on the otherside. so im jsut gunna have to be extra carefull on start up and try to prime it again once its in the truck

It won't really matter when you paint your engine. If you plan to paint your intake the same color then put it on first. I would have not put on the timing chain cover or harmonic balancer yet though just to save having to mask them. I would have painted it with the old valve covers and timing cover layed in place just to mask from overspray. Old spark plugs come in handy too to block the holes. Nice detail in the pics and description and the work looks great too. You probably know this but your pistons are stamped .040 becuase they are likely .040 oversize meaning the block was bored at some point. just hints that the engine has been rebuilt since new. Also the pistons are a flat top design(not stock) to increase compression ratio.
-
ya i plan on just mocking up the old valve covers for paint, but timing case would have been a good idea too, and for some reason i kept my old plugs in my garage so thats a helpful hint. i knew that the engine had been rebuilt because it was in pretty dang good shape for a 79, like there was hardly a ridge on the bores, and the timing chain was still just as tight as the new one i bought. but i didnt know about the pistons being flat top which is nice to know. thanks for the reply
-
got the water pump cleaned up and pulled the back off to make sure there was no sand inside and washed er out
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01885.jpg)
did a second clean up of the intake to get some of the spots i missed
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01887.jpg)
-
awesome truck, i like the way it sits what kind of drop do you have? and what size are the tires..
-
gildardo, the truck was already lowered when i got it so i h15 in rimave no idea. the tires are 275/6's with 15 inch rims.
got some more updates
i didnt get anys pics of it but when i was putting the intake on i first tried the little rubber seals for the ends but once i tightened the bolt down they were actually pushing out and i could tell there was going to be some serious seal issues. so i ended up getting permatex rtv and layed a bead of it all the way along instead and it looks much more promising.
when i was putting the intake gaskets on i first put some sealer around all the coolant holes on the heads and on the other side of the gasket aswell

Going to look sweet, what color are you painting your engine ?
-
it was a last minute decision but im going with red and i painted all the pulleys and brakets aluminum, and im painting the bolts flat black so hopefully it doesnt look like a dogs breakfast when im done
-
been a while since i've updated, mostly because its been going slower. got the engine painted and hopefull will be able to drop it in the truck this week
water pump, i like the contrast of the aluminum and red paint, the paint looks more orane then red in the pics but it is red

and here's what it looks like now
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/NanaimoE-20120415-00238.jpg)
also when i went to change the gasket and filter on my tranny i noticed one of the bolts was super loose, you can see how loose it was in this pic
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01924.jpg)
so i just tightened it back up and threw it back together. i dont have any experience with transmissions so im not sure if this is a regular thing or what?
-
quick update, got the engine in the truck and finally got all the wiring right, got it running today and broke in the cam. it only has openheaders on it right now so it its loud as heck. hopefully get the exhaust welded up this week
-
got some more progress
got the exhaust tacked up, dont mind the drivers side i took the pic when i was taking it off so its twisted
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01936.jpg)
and fully welded the over axles portions, im going to only clamp the connection between the end of this portion and the rest of the system so if i need to get it off there wont be any cutting
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01935.jpg)
also got a eldelbrock performer carb (a gift from my dad ;D) so im going to get that on and tuned this weekend and ill be done for a while until i do the bed and paint
-
got some more pics for you guys
pic of the engine right after i got it in
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/NanaimoE-20120428-00239.jpg)
got bored last night and decided to throw the rims on i think they look awesome
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/NanaimoE-20120506-00241.jpg)
and heres a video at idle i took it for a little drive yesterday and its still stumbles a bit under load but i havent checked my total timing yet so hopefully that will clear things up
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/th_VID-20120504-00013.jpg) (http://s1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/?action=view¤t=VID-20120504-00013.mp4)

Nice work there buddy. And this was the first time you've rebuilt an engine?
-
thanks team. ya it was my first time, i really think anyone could do it as long as you take your time and ask a looot of questions
-
more pictures
heres a shot of my exhaust after it was fully welded, its not the most symmetrical looking system, but it still took a long time to get it to fit so i was just relieved to have it finished
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01938.jpg)
so i couldnt get my truck to perform quite the way i wanted it to, it kept stumbling under load no matter where i set the timing. so i went out and bought a new hei distributor. my theory to buying a new distibutor was that under the rotor of my points dist it was nice and rusty so i was thinking that mayb the curve was not functioning properly, mainly because it only stummbled on higher rpms. idk if that was the reason for my troubles or not but either way it runs like a dream now.
got some new wires that dang near cost me as much as the dist.
trucks going to the paint shop this week so itll be freeesh for summer
-
With the new Dist. you have a way hotter spark, so it should run better. Glad to hear it is almost ready for paint and then you can cruise around in a newly painted truck.
-
Thanks for your posts and pictures. Very informative for me...I can't wait to get my hands on the '73 step side this winter!!
-
Any news on your paint job?
-
ya its in the shop but its going slow cuz were trading the paint guy service for service so i think its kinda on his back burner. i dont really remember if i already posted this but a costco tent fell n the truck so i did an insurance claim. icbc deemed all panels except the roof nedded to be repainted and they were gunna give me 1100 bucks to do it ???. so i approached them for money and i found out this week their going to give me 2000 now. which still isnt even close to enough to paint an entire truck, hense why i have to trade the guy landscaping his front yard for the remainder of the bill. but ill post up some pics as soon as i get 'er back. also if funds permitt im gunna redo the wood bed and ill do a sort of how to with pics to go with as i go on that (not that i really know "how to" haha but it will give other diyers an idea of the work involved)
-
ok so ive got some minor updates.... my truck has been in the shop forever but hes finally starting to get some real work done on it. i went there the past two nights and took the fenders and steps off the bed then took the bed off just to save him some time
sorry about the poopy phone pics but its all i had

At least progress is being made, you can not complain about that.
-
ok so its been a while. i got my truck back from the paint shop and every square inch was covered in orange peel. not only did it look bad up close but it completely changed the color of the paint. you can see here the paint looks ok but it didnt have the deep color i was expecting
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01948.jpg)
i had no experience with this sort of thing at all, so i did some research and found wetsanding was the only way to resolve the problem. so even though i knew just buffing wouldnt work i tried it anyways.
here was the result of trying to buff out orange peel.
so once the panel was ruined and i knew i was looking at getting it repainted, i figured why not just dig in and try the wetsanding. so i went out and bought a few different buffing compounds, basically just guessing at what i needed. but this is what i bought and it worked out pretty well.
also i grabbed one of these about half way through the project cuz my buddy needed his back
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01990.jpg)
you can see how bad the peel was from just a few passes of 1500
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01947.jpg)
some really important things i learned in my research were stay away from the edges and dont sand where your not gunna be able to buff.
for instance on my bed the fenders are overlapped by the top bed rail. so i put the buffer on the fender and looked at where i should put some tape so i didnt sand where the buffer wasnt going to reach.
this spot is especially tricky because the part that would be hitting the bed rail is the side of the buffer pad and it creates friction a lot quicker then the bottom surface. so i also threw some tape on the rail just to be safe
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01966.jpg)
so i started sanding and was a little nervous about going too far into the clear so i didnt go deep enough at first
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01954.jpg)
you can see on the sides there is still a little bumpyness, and with the set up i was using those stayed even after some aggressive buffing
so heres a pic of the roof. the left is obviously where i havent touched and the right is where i have done the 1500 wetsanding, i was not brave enough to use anything more coarse then that. also i put soap in my sanding water to help lubricate the paper a little.
after i got it so that there were only tiny pin hole sized dots of unsanded clear i would switch to 2000 and get it as close to flat as possible. so once i was happy with how flat it was (the roof is a bad example, i rushed because you dont really see it) i would put some of the coarse buffing compound on. then i would buff in small sections until you could no longer see scratches running in the direction i was sanding, but swirls were ok.
so after the coarse compound you can notice the clear is shiny, but still a little foggy
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01975.jpg)
so then i switch to the medium compound, same process
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01977.jpg)
if you look at the reflection of the lights you can see it already a lot sharper
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01979.jpg)
so once i got the roof looking alright i went ahead and sanded the rest of the truck through, taping off chrome trim and danger spots
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01983.jpg)
then i buffed the whole thing with coarse then medium. and finally i used some swirl remover and it really sets it off, the right side of the hood is where ive used swirl remover
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01998.jpg)
a little amount of swirl remover goes a long way
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC02002.jpg)
heres some shots of the final product, im still gunna polish it when i get the fender i ruined back from paint
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC01995.jpg)
you can see how crystal clear the reflection is
(http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s394/travh1234/DSC02004.jpg)
all in all im happy with the results, although it took a really long time and lots of after work hours. im just glad to be finally driving this thing this weekend
-
Very nice. The tedious chore of buffing paid off.
