Hi everyone,
Just thought i'd finally stop reading up on everyones progress and introduce me and my truck, its a 80 something k5 but the licensing clowns over here stick them on any year if they dont know how to read a vin number.
I will get around to decoding it but i've had more pressing matters to attend to so i hope you like the pics, this is my 2nd chevy truck the first being a 83' suburban (ex U.S.A.F) that needed nothing but a lick of paint to make good and removal of all the disgarded field ration packets from under the dash pad.. :-\
I've got 3 american vehicles at present...80' camaro,83'Cadillac bustleback and the k5 so i think i'm just about 1/4 way through my learning curve...lol.
Dave.

Welcome from New England!
New Hampshire actually. That thing looks pretty solid. Do all you neighbors think your nuts for having American iron?
-
Thanks, its rot free as its been in storage since it came over which is a godsend from what i've seen and read, neighbours are cool as next door is my girlfriends mother so i can make as much noise as i need and the other neighbour is a bit of a hobbit so i never see or hear from him :P
Its a bit tricky on late shifts when i have to leave at 3am and fire the camaro up but i've learnt that if i idle it up the street i dont get many curtains twitching and odd looks the next day...lol
-
Welcome, nice camo paint job. ;D
-
Been there with a loud rig, and neighbors before. Still live in the town I grew up in so after 20 plus years they don't bother complaining anymore. I have calmed down a little bit, only do full throttle midnight blasts once a month or so now.
-
I do it every morning at 5:30 and give the throttle a couple of taps before I take off. :P Heck I just make sure that I am not the only one up. ;D
-
Nice truck and welcome!
-
Welcome Dave :) Glad to hear another Brit. We can talk about sills (rocker panels) and bonnets (hoods) and understand each other ;D
I take it you up norf ;) Newky way - maybe we'll meet halfway one day! Are you a member of any UK car clubs?
Andy

Yes the camo was done as it should be with the correct pattern but not with carc as i dont have the facilities to paint it,my younger brother is a vehicle cosmetic painter so we used his mobile spray van to do it over a couple of days....you guessed it its a Seville, not the prettiest caddy but i have a soft spot for them :-\

Howdy from Dayton Ohio in the good ole USA! Cool hearing from a Chevy lover that far away. Looks like you have a nice collection, that Camaro doesn't stand a chance at being stealthy if it's as loud as it is bright!

Yeh the paint is bright and a pain to keep clean, thats my reason for painting the blazer camo...lol
Its not as loud as some but with the streets being so compact it reverbarates off every house... 8)

YEEEEEE-HAAAW. Now you need a General Lee horn on that camo Blazer!
-
YEEEEEE-HAAAW. Now you need a General Lee horn on that camo Blazer!
Arrrgh no Dixie horns please,i grew up on The Dukes but it seems every dayvan in the Uk has them along with 20-30 dream catchers in the interior, its one of my pet hates as most of those vans never get slept in so what use is a dream catcher when your wide eyed on the motorway.. ;D
-
For the record I've removed them from my truck! Once I realised what "tune" they played they were the first thing to be removed!!
-
Good one bitzer!
autorepr a friend of mine has a similar truck to the one in your profile..

Hey Overthepond, tell your freind to take off the bed of his truck and build a wooden flatbed for it. Hehehehe
Actually I'm going to take my wooden bed off and put on a step side at some point. Had to do a bunch of work to it suspension wise so far. Next is 33s, maybe 35s then the body.
That's awful nice country side you got there, what time of year is your camaro n caddy pics in? My wife's freind met a guy from over there on line, they started talking all hours of the night and then he came over twice and she went over once then what do you know they got married and she moved over there. Poor guy, he has no idea what a psychopath she is but he's finding out!!!!!
-

Believe it or not but that was january i think, its mostly like that over here but worse for me as i'm 1 hour from the scottish border..2 days ago it was blazing sun then 5 mins later there was a snow storm,i'm sure 'bitzer' will comment on this.
We are lucky if we get 2 weeks solid sun/heat in high summer.
If i did'nt have the kids and missus i'd be looking for an american bride online but we'd have to stay stateside. ;D.i dont recommend the Uk,the castles and ancient stuff is all its got to offer.. :-\
Dave.

The UK is not a happy place to live as I've mentioned before! I'm hoping to travel a bit more in a couple of years and see more of the real USA not the dump Miami 8)

Better hurry. We will be part of the "global community" before too long. All 3 running candidates seem to have that view.
-
but you guys have so much space and monster garages / workshops and proper seasons and cheaper fuel and cheaper beer............................

Not in Ohio Brother! This weather flat out STINKS! It was like 55 and bright and sunny yesterday and today it's like 40 and raining, gonna do this the next couple days. Oh well I guess it brings May flowers.
Trust me you guys, if anybody is hooking up with a chick from an on line deal it's because nobody that knows her locally wants anthing to do with her. No matter what she looks like or any "special talents" she may possess.

As for on-line dating, after getting divorced a few years back all my mates etc had settled down and didn't fancy going onna blokes night out. So internet dating it was and after 2years together things are going very well and have I mentioned I'm gonna be a daddy ;D
-
DANG, well good for you man! You must have found a well adjusted gal. The two I'm talking about layed eyes on each other in person like three times then got married so if you knew your girl for two years than you did it right.
Congratulations, I'll be waiting on my cigar!

I got no clue what you just said but it sure sounds GOOD!!!!!
-
me either but it sounds good to you!
-
Dont worry guys its Olde English before we went decimal. It doesn't make "cents" to me ;D
People born in a certain part of London were called Cockney's and they used to use a rhyming slang so only their group of people knew what they were saying- also if the Old Bill (police) were listening they were unaware of any activity! up the "apple & pears" = going up the stairs etc
Ok me old china! china plate = mate
grab my weasel - weasel & stoat = coat
Thru'penny bits - poo
lol ;D
-
I'll just concentrate on the "few beers" part! COLD ones that is!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Sounds like Pennsylvania Dutch. My father use to talk that.
" One night the other day type stuff "
" Scope Scope the nanny goat went up the river on a bar of soap, combed his hair with a wagon wheel and woke up with a tooth ache in his heel "
Don't ask me what it means I have no clue. But he used to say that on a regular basis!!
Or old world Ebonics!!! ::)
-
:D ??? ;D :D :o
Actually had some fine weather today, had a day off so managed to get some jobs done to the blazer without getting froze and blown around the garden..lol
(http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e42/sevretta/CIMG1002_edited.jpg)
-
wow Dave- sunshine! we had an okay sunday so I had to do the garden-well start the landscaping, building walls etc blah blah. today overcast and chilly!!
One fine day in the middle of the night, two dead men got up to fight. One blind man to show the way, one dumb man to shout hooray. Back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot one another. ;D
-
Just found another blazer up near newcastle airport sitting in a barn, not seen it yet but the guy says the motor is in bits, might make a good parts car. :).amazing how you never see them on the roads but as soon as you get one they are everywhere... ???
-
let me know if you get it Dave - I could do with some interior!!
-

As far as interior goes i dont think the seats will work as a straight fit,the blazer has a flat floor and bucket seats, yours will have the raised section in the floor i imagine...door panels should be ok depending on what your using, power windows etc etc.
-

Yep he used to say that one too! Not as often but I do remember it. He had a bunch of them. Only other one that I can remember is,
" The boy stood on the burning deck, his feet were full of blisters, he burned a hole in his pantaloons, and had to wear his sisters! "
Pretty nice hear today. Temp hit 64, it was sunny in the morning, sprinkled a bit around 1:00, then the sun came back out.
-
Not in the big OH!!!!! Got up yesterday it was 55f and rainy and dropped to 40f by 3:00pm. It stopped raining but grey skys everywhere! Today it's 30f and grey. Good day to stay in and watch truck movies!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Yep overcast and crappy here today. Not supposed to get much higher than low 40s. But tomorrow is supposed to be in the 50s, then rain and snow Fri.!!!!!!
Speaking of movies, ever see Return to Mason County. Allot of classic iron in it. 40s and 50s cars, not many trucks.

if the doors will bolt on i'd use the whole lot as truck not painted yet! and i'd make the power windows work too ;) I got winedy windows and one regulator knackered.

"The boy stood on the burning deck, his legs were all a quiver. he had a cough, his leg fell of and floated down the river :)
Mary had a little lamb, she tied it to a pylon. a thousand volts shot up its leg and turned his wool to nylon

Winedy windows, and knackered regulator! WOW!
You don't need doors with power windows. You need one of these!

Do you mean "Return to Macon County"? The one with the BB '57 Chevy with trophies and toolbox bolted in the trunk?, if so, It had Don Johnson and Nick Nolte in it. Good car movie.
