Where to buy '73-'80 Fenders?
« on: December 03, 2008, 01:33:13 pm »
where can i find fenders for an '80 chevy pickup that fit well?  the fenders i currently have were imports (jc whitney) and have horrible gaps between them and the hood, and one side does not fit well up against the corner of the cab near the window.  also, it appears that the hinge mount is high on one causing the back of my hood to be high.

i restored this truck about ten years ago and it is now in need of a new paint job.  i don't want to go through the cheapo fender thing again.  for the last ten years i've lived with the crummy fit, but am ready to do it right this time.  can you help me out?

i'll gladly pay $155, but i have to be convinced they fit like originals.  has anyone personally fitted these up?  are these imports?  factory tooling?

also need a supplier for a good hood.  mine has the usual buckle in the middle.

I bought a set and they're A+. Had to widen a few holes, but that is normal.

does look like you got a good fit.  pretty consistent spacing between the hood/fender...  where did you get that hood?

btw, nice looking truck.  i retained my chrome as well.  it's a bit more effort, but breaks up the bland slab side and keeps it classy.

The fenders on CCZ's truck are the ones from my site.  They are goodmark fenders.  It is all I will sell for 73-80 trucks.  They have the best fit by far.  78 chevardo has them on his truck also.

His hood came from a salvage yard donor.  BTW no one makes a decent stock hood.

Although these pics are in the test fitting i had to do a tiny bit of tweaking to bring the top lip part of the fender in but over all they fit great on the truck. And they too came from chris here thru his store..

thanks

Here's my goodmark fender, I like it.  I'd buy another one next time too.

May I suggest genuine GM fenders from the salvage yard - you can find really good ones.  If not, I highly recommend Chris's  Goodmark fenders!!  Fast shipping and good quality as you can see. ;)
