Hard to fill with gas - '73 k1500
« on: March 21, 2012, 06:38:54 pm »
I've always had a hard time getting gas in either tank on this thing - have to let it dang near trickle in. Anything more and it will spill over and kick off the nozzle.

It is the way they are designed and what filler nozzle at the pump you are using.  Some on here have used filler tubes off a diesel truck and say they work better.  My plan on my 74 when I get to that stage is make my own, I will more than likely have to experiment with a couple of different ones, but I have had if with the trickle fill up.  I have had mine apart several times, no clogs or vent problems, just wont take gas very fast.

i know on mine i have to use a certain fuel nozzle the ones that just have the rubber cap no ribs. the newer "eco friendly" ones dont work and you have to have the nozzle hang out 1/2 way

I just put the nozzle in and pull it back out a little and it fills fine.
