Question about Subs.

I hope that someone can answer this question for me.

I am going to be putting subs in my truck, behind the seat. I have an idea for the box, and so far everyone that I've talked to has said that it should work. So here's the backstory on my situation.

I asked a friend at school if he had any subs that he wants to get rid of and he told me that he does. He has an MTX 12", a Cross Vegas 12"(has anyone heard of them or had one before, cause I haven't), and is soon to get another Cross Vegas 12". He wants me to re-solder the MTX and the one CV that he has, but replace the wire that I'm supposed to solder with a larger gauge. Once I do that, I get to keep the CV while he trades the MTX for another CV that I also get to have.

Now here's my question, one mentioned above. Has anybody heard of or used Cross Vegas subs? And the other is; is it possible to replace the wires that connect to the cone with larger gauge wire?

P.S. I also have another audio question. Can I hook the subs and my Xplod amp up to where they aren't running when my dad listens to talk radio?

ive heard of mtx and there ok subs  havent heard of the other ones b4. defn havent heard of anyone trying to do what your doing with the wire swap.  is it broken off?  i just dont get why u'd do that.  if thats the case id just buy a new sub.  there cheap and come with warranty  just my .002

The wire on the subs melted away from the metal tab and need to be re-soldered. The reason is, that the previous owner before my friend pushed more juice than the wire could handle, but the cone could handle it. He want's me to replace the wire with a little bit heavier wire on the MTX and maybe I'll do it on my CV's if it's even possible.

if the wire was melted  then my guess would be that the voice coil inside isnt in the greatest shape, may be melted   heat kills voice coils.  i would still buy new though.  u can prolly make it work but reliability,quality of sound, and safety would be my concerns.  the company engineered those subs to have that size wire.  just sayin man!

mtx subs are ok but idk if you will be able to put a 12 behind the seat. i have 2 10s behind mine and the seat is almost all the way up.

If they are actually called Cross Vegas, it sounds like they are Swap Meet Knockoffs of Cerwin Vegas.....  Now if they are actually Cerwin Vegas, they are a Higher Quality Subs compared to an MTX(Not to say that MTX's are Poor Quality, as they actually offer some of the Better Bang for your Budget Bucks)...

I think you can bypass the amp and it's output if you use the RCA cables to the amp and speaker outputs to the speakers or sub you wanna hear and use the head unit speaker outs to your "dad's speakers".  You would then "switch" the blue input wire to the amp.  Flick on the switch to excite the amp, turn it off to go to head unit output.

Well, I've got the MTX and Cerwin Vegas in hand and the cone on the MTX is cracked, but the wire is fine, and on the Cerwin Vegas, one wire needs to be re-soldered.
