idle dropped after choke installed

after not having a choke for several months, i finally got all the pieces rounded up and installed one (manual choke on a holley 600, single fuel inlet, vac secondaries) should my idle have dropped a bit after doing this?
after its gets warmed up even, sitting at a stop light i have to shift to neutral to keep the idle up, it hasnt died but sounds like its close.

should my throttle linkage move ever so slightly when going from partially closed to open choke?

i didnt have an instruction manual to go off of, just a decent picture from google images....... theres a part at the base of the carb (passenger) that looks like a "hammer" underneath where the choke mechanism sits now, i cant tell if its making contact or not when it opens, possibility it is and thats where my problem is?

the only other car ive ever had with a carb had an electric choke, so this is kinda new to me.

Are you sure it is adjusted correctly.  When warm is the butterfly open all the way? It doesn't make since if the butterfly is open, compared to no choke, that the idle is different.

If it is, just readjust your idle.

gave it a half turn on the screw and its fine now, just trying to figure out if i did something wrong when i installed it, i was going off of a picture of some monstrous holley carb from google
