I'd like to throw my $.02 in here, to the mustang guys (of which I am one) I think the 66, 67 and 68 coupes are the best mustangs made. And to the camaro guys (of which I am one) the 67, 68 and 69 are better looking than the 70-73's.....

But the best car of that era would have to be a 1966 Pontiac GTO. I'd take a rusted out '66 GTO over a mint condition Mustang, Camaro, or Mopar any day of the week. Call me crazy, but I just love them, I know their really just a rebadged LeMans witha bigger more powerful engine but I don't care.

Oldwhity,
I hear you about being more open minded to different vehicles. To me our 8' stepsides fall into that category. Years ago it wouldn't have been my first choice, but as these trucks get older you grab what you can find and hope they grow on you.

Well, since we are talking old cars, I still have all the mustangs I have ever owned.  I have this 65 GT Mustang Convertible under me in my basement garage right now as I type this.  My old yeller 68 in the bacground was my first car, still have it.  My 65 white coupe I restored while in college and won concours correct divisions in Washington DC area car shows.

Hey 85MudMonster, that's my favorite musclecar too.  The most beautiful thing out of the 60's, if you ask me.  In fact, I saw one just the other day near my neighborhood.  A fontaine blue drop top just like this one.  I nearly broke my neck turning around to stare at it and when I turned back around I was about to jump the median, LOL.  Man, I hope I see that one again, when I'm not driving.

Right on! ;)

Sgt, that's unbelievable that you still have those. I NV you. :D

I wrecked my mothers car back in the day. I was staring at a 53 Pontiac Hearse on the left that still had the rollers in the back and the original straight 8 and ran over a fire hydrant on my right. I did quite a bit of damage. :-[ :D LOL.......memories, aren't they great?!

That IS awesome dude, I don't have the first anything I've ever owned.   I wish I still had my old '77 C10 though, my first ever vehicle.  It was rusty and looked like crap on the outside with house-carpet on the inside, but dang do I miss that old truck!   I still cause myself about once a week about selling that for my focus, probably mainly because I have seen it driving around and the new owner totally ruined it.  That made me tear up dangit.

Ok heres what i currently own as far as the stepside as far as old cars:

Always liked 67-70 cougars, in 1971 they went a bit bigger and a bit wider which they were still cool but this car has some history to me so i cant ever get rid of it since i have owned it now for almost 20 years.Plus i like the 70-81 camaros, im not a big fan of the 82-92 body styl but to each his own ..

thanks

That car is so nice with a drop top on it. I wish I made enough money to be able to buy something that nice...
