ACC Boss Hog Converters?
« on: January 08, 2009, 03:23:03 am »
I was lookin at the Boss Hog night stalker converter for the truck in a 2200-2800 stall rating.  Has anyone used these converters before?  Opinions, how was the experience with the converter.  I will be running a trans cooler, got one of the "tube" ones gonna mount it in front of the radiator.

I've heard mixed reviews on those converters.  But from what I've been reading, it's not that hard to make a good non-lock up converter for the TH350/400.  So you don't have to be too picky.  I think the only concern is whether the converter is efficient and will stall at what it's advertised and that's where the big name companies usually have more experience.  I considered a ACC converter, but I chose to go with a company that was closer to me and had a little better reputation(but still small).  What all do you have planned for your truck....nitrous?slicks?towing?

I have no real plans, just fun street truck!  I'm gonna have vortecs with crane 100182 cam, should sit close to 10.5:1 compression, I have 3.73 gears now, and I know with stock converter, its gonna be a dog off the line.  I was lookin at the boss hog or a Holeshot 2400.

Back in 2000 I bought one of those Boss Hog stalls.....and it was awesome. I bought the 3200-3800 stall. I had mine behind a 358 SBC with Dart heads and it stalled to roughly 3500. Stall all depends on your individual motor....and especially wether you have it behind a BBC or SBC. I also was running a B&M trans cooler.

I'd highly recommend them......

One other recommendation I'd have is running TCI trans fluid. It runs alot cooler than standard trans fluid. It's pricey.....but worth it.
