Roll-up Tonneau Cover?
« on: April 26, 2008, 04:55:29 am »
Seeking input and recommendations on a roll-up tonneau cover for a '84 K10 longbed.  I've been considering Access or Truxedo.  Would like to hear the pro's and con's from those who may have experience with these or others.

Thanks.

Chris, do you like your full tilt?  What do you not like about it.  Do you have the snap or snapless model?  What's the difference?
Thanks

I have the full tilt with snaps on my 97 chevy and I love it. At the time I got it (going on 9 years) they did not make the snapless. I don't think I haver ever unsnapped it, just slide it off and sit it in the shop when I need it off. I had a snapless nontilt before and it was a pain in the winter to install when removed.

Chris has the snapless, I'm sure he will respond when he has time.

What do I not like about it?  Nothing. I like everything about it.  Mine tilts and is snapless.  I had a snapless non tilt on my 81 4x4 back in 92.  I did unhook it from time to time, but not enough.  ON the tilt I just lift it up.

Does it cover the bed caps?  My truck has bed rails (wood grain insets :)) and I'd like to remove them, put screws with dress washers in the holes and cover that mess up with a tonneau.

Also, do you know anyone that sells the molded plastic bed and tailgate caps for our trucks?

Thanks

It doesn't cover all of the rail, but most of it (3/4" exposed at most)  Here it is:

I have run the Extang on three trucks. The first one was snaps, worked great, but if you dont have much hand strength, its a bear when its cold. The second one was a tilt I put on moms truck, and it was great, and most of the time, came off in one peice. The last one I ran on my work truck. It was a Extang Trifecta, and I loved it. I folded it up and down several times a day for work, as thats where all my parts, tools and pac rat were. Held up great. Its one my 86 Extended cab now. Its a little narrow for it, but the length is perfect, which is odd because its an odd length bed due to the extended cab. It maintained its fit very well on the 04 I had it on even with alot of daily use. It may not look as good as the full frame units, but I was going for function. It still looked good

Hi,
I've had a truxedo truxport (roll-up) cover for a couple of years. It was pretty cheap and has holded on and the velcro is working. When it's raining much the water tends to pool on the tarp, since the cross bows are straight. For winters, I have changed it for a cab-hi camper, so I don't really know how it would work with snow.
