Hard to refuse offer
« on: March 10, 2009, 01:44:43 pm »
I was just offered a 84 c10, not sure of the trim level, for a very reasonable price.  I was just wondering how much of it is interchangable to my 82 K20, besides anything related to the 4x4. the truck is on its second owner, originally a 6cyl now has an eight. 8 tires on rims including 4 studded winters. It runs and up until recently was plated and driven. $500cdn... I think I would be stupid to pass this one up but then again I feel its $500 that wont be going on the 82... oh so many thoughts

So what does you 82 not have? Look at it and see if it meets your goals.

As far as goals go, it is very easy to get sidetracked. Re-evaluate and make a pro/con list then make your decision off that.

$500 sounds very reasonable.

Parts that interchange: everything except windshield wiper controls, cruise control and speedometer (vss started in 84), and obviously, the suspension parts.

Would I be able to swap bodies on these 2 trucks?
Like put the 84 C10 body on my 82 K20 frame?  and then when thats all said it done throw the body of the 82 on the 84?

the K20 has dual front shocks and I see that a previous owner actually cut a whole in the inner fender for clearance, I know he changed the outer fenders to ones from a 1 ton so I assume the inners were changed to.  As stated earler the speedo and ww switch was not interchangable but if i did swap bodies would I use the new or the old? the ww switch would be new since its all connected to the cab but my speedo attaches to the 82 trans.

thanks in advance

Check the C10 tunnel, You may need to cut it out and rob the one out of your k20 to gain clearance for xfer case.

That is the only major issue.
