need help

well hello there new to the site but not new to a garage i just got a 1979 k10 stepside i was told all it needed was a starter put on and it has a toggle switch to start the truck so i went down to autozone and got a starter and put it on and i got nothing under the dash it looks like a ratnest and the only thing that works is the radio i am thinking about just calling painless wire and geting a whole new harness *or* is there a beter way

well i got it one of the wires going to the starter was missing found it. it was hiding behind a fuel line hook it up and all things work now and capt what kind stuff do you have i am looking for a new dash setup but i don't want to do the digital dash i was thinking of going with some round gages
