I just put on 255/60/15 tires on my truck. These are a 27'' tall tire compared to the stock 225/75/15 tires which are about 28.3''.
The speedometer is inaccurate reading faster than I am actually going.
The number of Drive teeth are needed to figure out the correct Driven teeth. Sometimes, the drive tooth will have to be changed since certain driven gears only work with certain drive gears.
Hopefully I only have to change the driven gear so I don't have to pull off the tailshaft for a drive gear. Does anyone know what color DRIVE gear came on a truck with 3.08 rear and 225/75/15 tires? I know I could pull off the cover and look but then I risk breaking the seal. I would like to just take it off when I have the correct driven gear to install.
To clear any confusion: DRIVE gear is the one on the tail shaft and requires the tail shaft to be removed for swapping. DRIVEN gear is on the speedo cable and can easily be changed. Hopefully I only have to change the DRIVEN gear.
