Those heads are crap. Seriously. Look at the flow charts. 882 < doublehump < Vortec. You are trying to get something out of one of the most junk heads that GM built and they are a waste of energy to even pick them up, much less bolt them on. Follow post #3. That guy knows. What he is describing is very similar to one of the sbc's that I have.

I keep hearing that what I have is junk...I'm not educated on flowbench numbers or how to decifer them, so I wouldnt know what I'm looking at.

I do know this. The heads I am using are 882 heads. They seem to work fine on the street. My high end gets flat around 135-140 mph at about 4800 rpm in high gear. Works for me, the truck doesnt like stopping from that speed anyways. That speed is a total guess based on the fact that the lines on the road get solid around that speed if I remember correctly....my speedo stops at 85mph which i get to at 3600rpm in second gear. I have a 3.08 rear end.
The 58cc heads are clean as they can be and came off a 305 that had 443,000 actual miles before I blew and intake gasket...lol

Anyways, I think that a set of AFR heads will be the route I go after I get tired of this cam and go bigger.

The AFR heads are awesome heads, but don't go to big alot of people do, for what you want 180cc would be about right, unless you star going to a 355-383 then i would hve to say 195's.But the 882's are'nt bad heads you just need to pocket port them, get a book on porting by David Vizard he really knows what's going on.The 882's you just need smaller combustion chamber's.You can have them milled, but then you want to have the intake face of the heads milled to.Good Luck
