Got an idea. need thoughts.
« on: June 30, 2009, 02:30:01 pm »
well ive had a weird thought.
im thinking of making a trans temp gauge for my truck.
by taking out the clock and putting another factory temp gauge in and just have it marked trans.
ive got another good temp gauge, small thread sensor, and white face overlay, and know how to wire it.
what are your thoughts?
any concerns?

I did that on a 54 Chevy with a custom console.  I had the transmission cooler in the back of the truck.  It worked great for me.  I have not thought about it on our trucks.

now that im thinking about it ive actually seen that, it was in an old truck my uncle had, but the temp gauge replaced the dummy? area in the corner, dunno if thats where the clock is or not as i dont have one.

however thats where i put a small tach on my dash, i just cut out the back of the plastic housing and fit in in nicely, if your not looking at it you cant really tell its not supposed to be there.

Good idea really - my semi has temp gauges for transmission and both rear ends.
