Installing late model cowl and wipers in early model truck
« on: July 08, 2009, 10:03:55 pm »
Have mid 80s body with 75 cab and drilled the holes to bolt the wiper linkages in
The wiper used a ball on an arm that was held to the linkages by 2 nuts
The linkages I installed on the truck just had a rubber socket for the ball to go in and didnt feel like it was holding it in very well
I kept the wiper motor from the truck I pulled the linkages and cowl from and the ball looks bigger

I also found a late model linkage in the bed but with the 2 nuts to hold the ball on
I realize I probably should have checked it and put that one on instead, but now that its bolted in, do I need to take it apart and put the correct linkages on or am I fine?

Also, Id really appreciate some pictures of how the washer lines are mounted (where they reduce the size of the washer hose)
Theres a short steel bracket and a long steel bracket. Im not sure which is left and right and where they go exactly

Thanks

Okay. I swapped the wiper linkages with the correct mid 80s ones so theres still nuts holding the wiper motor ball on
But I still need pictures of how the washer hoses are run. Not necessarily the hoses, but how those two little reducer brackets mount. They reduce the size of the hose to the tiny hose that runs up the wiper arm

Early models didn't have the washer on the arm.
See my tech post on cleaning cowls.  It shows how the wiper hoses are ran.
