Small Block Intakes and carbs

i can only get it to start, regardless if engine is cold or warm, if a put the pedal all the way to the floor and release as soon as i sense the engine is going to "catch."


My theory is that the choke is too "tight" initially.  Otherwise it works fine.   Of course this wouldn't explain the hot start issue either.  Driving on the street is just great---real smooth.


We'll get to the bottom of it----eventually.
