Intermediate pipes DIY for long tube headers
« on: October 29, 2009, 08:00:56 AM »
After being fed up with the cost of muffler shops in my area, i looked on here to find a solution to put 3 inch intermediate pipes on my 84 4x4 with long tube headers.  The price at an exhaust shop (most refused to do intermediate pipes when tailpipe was already there) was about 160 canadian a side just between the muffler and collector.  I found a part that fits perfectly, just to let you all know this adapter does clear our crossmember and t-case easily.

Just thought i would share it, seeing so many questions and so few answers regarding exhaust and headers.

Welcome,  ;D

I "almost" used these trying to get my exhaust to mate up with my headers.  (used headers off ?, at least they fit the frame rails..)
Thanks for sharing your experience.

Pics coming soon, as soon as a day with half decent weather and im not working i will be under the truck doing the installation for real and i will get pictures.  As for the headers i have no clue the brand they are just they have very thick tubes and defenetly are the truck headers that hang down lower, im thinking they are hooker.
