Thanks. Going to see and possibly buy one of two short beds Sat. to replace the one on my '80 fleetside.  I could only find one friend who's available to give me a hand pulling it off the donor truck and loading it onto my trailer-- needed to know if the 3 of us (including the seller) could handle it.

Having met you, I think 3 could handle it, it won't be a cake walk, but...

Took me and my brother in law to lift mine off. With the tailgate still on it. Only hard part was clearing the tires.

Got my bed.  $250.  It was a lot easier to handle than I thought it would be.  Four of us, no problem at all.  Pictures to come later this week.  It's still upside down on my trailer.  It was on a 4wd truck and caked with mud underneath.  It rained nearly all the way home and now its a real mess.  The bed floor is concaved somewhat in the center.  Is the floor welded to the bed sides or bolted?  The floor in the original bed of the '80 that this bed will replace is decent, so I thought maybe I could use that floor with these bedsides.

Here are some pics of the truck bed.  Yes, it is STILL on the trailer.  I plan to disassemble it this weekend.  The cradle the bed is sitting in on top of the trailer is something I came up with as a way to bring it home in one piece without any damage.  My trailer is 5 x 12 and not wide enough for the bed, so I attached 4 2x4x7 boards across the rails.  I cut 3 more in 7 foot lengths and left one at 8-1/2 feet.  When we set the bed down on the boards on the trailer, I boxed it in with 3 boards, attaching the boards to each other and to the ones sitting across the rails with 2 deck screws each.  Once three boards were installed, I cut the last board to length with a hand saw I brought along and attached it.  Although not shown in the pictures, I used two ratcheting straps to hold it down across the width of the bed and trailer through the front and rear of the wheel openings after it was boxed in.  The bed did not move the entire trip.
