Actual Drop with Shackles and Hangers?

I know they advertise a 4" drop with shackles and hangers, but I am wondering what the actual amount of drop is.  My experience with shackles is that the actual drop is about 1/2 to 3/4 of what they advertise.  Can someone with the setup please chime in.  I have an 86 C10 that Im going to install 3" drop spindles on and I want a true 4" drop in the rear.  I feel that a flip kit would be too much.

Shackle and hangers generally give you 4" of drop, you just have to use the lowed hanger setting.
