WOW, you guys would laugh your butt off at some of the junk we are aloud to drive around in Good old Wisconsin No inspection, they dont ask for any insurance (proof of) I see more duct tape on cars in winter around here holding head lights to windows in place as far as exhaust if it looks compleat from engine to tail pipe there good with it.
How do they treat your farmers out there, we would not have any farms at all if this was the case here, high school kids like to run there trucks thru the mud pits and them park them at school with it dripping off all day you should see what this does to the under side of the truck after a couple of years of this.

I'm not sure on the farm trucks as they are a whole different animal.  They're a few of them still around, some make my '73 look new.  (the ones I've seen have the town's name and "farm" painted on the door, usually an old single axle dump truck)  A few of the farmers that I've talked to find it easier just to use their everyday truck.  I do see a few tractors running up and down my road.  Farms up here are quite a bit smaller than in the midwest. (unless your in the "county")

I get away with a lot down here in Texas.  I once got an inspection on my GMC with blacked out lights, check engine light on, open headers, and no license plate lights in my rollpan.  I was planning to get my race truck inspected too, but went a different route, but was told that they would pass me if I atleast drove it in there.  I guess it really depends on the shop you go to because my dually failed inspection at a different shop - after I already paid they said it was too loud and the tint was too dark.  They told me to fix that then come back or else I'd have to pay again.  I told them "na, I'll go down the street and get the sticker" and they was like "you can't do that".  I said "watch me" and returned 30minutes later with a new inspection sticker. Maybe you should try to make a few buddies at another shop that way they'll be more likely to just pass you.

Went to go and get a sticker yesterday. FAIL!  Directional signal in the rear (just a bulb)  Everything was fine on Monday  :-\
Went early just in case something I missed did have to be fixed.  Sticker's not due until the end of the month.

I've been pulled over a bunch, they mention the tint and I let them know an officer put it on herself and she showed me the box where it said it was 25% and that it was legal.  They usually just say "well it ain't legal,so fix it", but the reason for the stop is really because the truck looks suspicious. I honestly think there's worse violators on the road, so they don't get too picky around here.  One thing I did notice was that the place that failed me tests other stuff.  They took my truck for a test drive and slammed the brakes a few times then checked the tires.

They don't check the windshield washer?? Wow, proper visibility isn't normally considered a saftey issue?
