dually tire size
« on: December 09, 2009, 02:00:46 pm »
for the last few years ive had 235/85/16s on my 87 v3500 dually flatbed plow truck, and now need some new treads. found some like new used 245/75/16 and wanted to know if they would fit, 265/75 looks like it would be too wide. wouldnt mind if they touched a little as it dosnt pull very heavy loads. thanks for any help.

You dont want them to touch at all. Just the friction between the two will cause problems. You can add a spacer between the two, and be ok. I just run the 235s and go with it

Like choptop said. They cant touch. Even if you bolted them on and they didnt touch now, when you have a load they might. If you have 1/2 of day light between your 235 right now, the 245 should fit. Also remember the 245's are just over 1" shorter

245/75s are not normally installed in dual applications. They look silly, IMO.

Stick to the 235/85s; they are cheap and plentiful.
