My local Radiator shop just called:  Still searching and recomended a 1995 454 radiator like this one pictured below.  Plastic tanks / updated efficient aluminium core / tubes.  They claim that this one attaches thru stock type saddle mounts and will be a direct interchange for my 1988.  I thoguht they switched away from saddle style mounts by 95.   :-\

w/EOC, and 1-1/2 thick, for 2" version call us
short neck is around 3" raised, aluminum core style
CORE SIZE: 34 x 19 x 1-1/2

Ordered an original (48 pound / brass & copper) Diesel 3-core radiator.

First one Fed-ex dropped and crushed the fill neck.

Second one looked like the core had been kicked by a class room of kinder gardeners.

Company refunded my $$$ and I bought a 1995 aluminium 2-core 454 truck radiator locally for $240

SO far everything says direct fit comparing the two.  Once the rain stops and we get some good weather I'll update more.
