« on: January 25, 2010, 05:10:34 am »
Well Thought it was time to post my build here

My truck started it life in 1984 build in St. Louis, MO as a Black Chevrolet C-30 Bonus Cab Dually 1-Ton with a J Code 6.2 Diesel. in July 1984 She was at the Choo Choo Customs Inc. in Chattanooga, TN and got there treatment to make it a Convertion truck, 2 custom bucket seats for the front a rear bench fold down seat In Maroon Velour, Headliner, White Paint job with 2 pin stripes, front airdam and alot more. my truck have spent its life in Oklahoma until 1990 where it went to florida, it has been used a hauler at one time she have been front end damaged witch have been repaird and at some time in the 90s she went overseas to Poland where she was used as a hauler for a circus and have been hauler Seals and have been haulering those around many countrys in europe until some time in 2001 she was abandond at a company parking, very tired 2 ripped open tires, dead batteries, destroyed ignition lock, worn out seats, broken passenger side window. she was auctioned of cheap, non running, missing title for parts only. that guy put it up forsale again sometime 2003 or 04 i saw the add and drool over it everyday but didnt have that kind of money as 14 year old kid to buy it. then it was gone until Sebtember 9th 2009. a guy replied to an add i have made on a US car site as i was looking for old truck without engine cheap he said that he had an old 82 or 83 3500 i could get cheap, call him and he told me it had a great sounding 6.2 Diesel with 4 speed manual but had a very rusty cab and it was missing title. he promissed to send me pictures that same afternoon, as promissed i got the pictures that same evening when i opend my mail box i almost fainted there she was made him an offer on it right away he took it $3452 2 weeks later 3 friends and i went cross country to pick it up we where planing to drive it home
a 4 hour journey we took it for spin at the guys farm but decided not to drive it home unsafe without any brakes at all. the guy had a friend who had a tow truck and for $390 he and the seller could deliver it to the ferry that goes from this part of the country to the part i live in and live almost by the dock so we where golden.

i paid him and the tow truck driver we went home as the ferry didnt sail this day so tommrow we would take the ferry over to pick it up and home again with the truck. easy right? no sutch thing has easy  3 hour journey sunday moring with the ferry when over there we tried to start it but batteries was dead  only had one battery booster 12volts and she has 2 batteries = 24Volts time was running out before the ferry went back and woundt sail anymore that day we got a truck driver to get pull start it but our cabel broke time was really running out 5 minuts before departure the driver said load up your stuff now and i going to pull your guys onto the ferry we bearly made it 3 hours late we arived home and had a friend wating ready too pull us off the ferry and home only a half mile or so home we where finaly after a 6 hours journey Home  same evening i found out she was a Choo Choo Custom truck as i found a sticker in the door jam and she has only 79672 Original miles, Original 6.2 Diesel i had heard that Choo Choo Custom before but not with trucks i only heard about El Caminos and Cameros but i have learned they have done alot more then that.

She has been taken care off most of it life since there are written oil/filter, fuel filter, tire, brakes and other stuff on the rad support that fron 5000miles upto 70000 something miles

the brakes was new all the way around but sadly most of it is too far gone to save

Quite a project.  That truck's worked its butt off I'd say.  I don't know how long you've had it, but that's some impressive progress!  Hope you're a good welder, that truck needs a lot of cancer treatment!

What all did Choo Choo customs do to it?  The ones that I've seen around here all had a 2tone stripe package and a hood scoop.  That's cool that you found the entire history of you're truck.
