Question about trailer ramps.
« on: March 12, 2010, 02:24:17 pm »
I got my trailer and it's nice. I was told it would be a dovetail, but it's not...I can live with it though.  I think I'll have a problem getting my truck up there though.  The ramps are the standard 5ft ramps I think.  My problem with the ramps is the side/edge ridge that stick up along them.  I believe I have 11.5" between the edges of the ramps, but my tires are 14" wide.  I'm thinking this could possibly puncture one of my slicks while loading the truck up.  Would I be ok if I just flipped the ramps over and had the little retaining edge/lip(that connects to the trailer) welded the opposite way?  My tires may fit on the ramps the way they are, but it'll be a tight fit with no room for error.  I'll post pics if you guys need a better understanding of what I'm talking about.  Thanks.

I had ramps like that on a previous trailer.  I got around it by laying 2- 2x12 cut to the ramp lenths when I needed to load up vehicles with wider tires.  Just my $.02

My latest trailer ramps are flat across.  I will try to get some pics the next time I have it out.
