« on: January 13, 2010, 06:24:16 am »
hey guys my names stephen murphy and i live in a small town in the north island of new zealand called whangarei(fang-ah-ray)

well its summer here and im hopefully going to buy my first chevy, my dad had one when i was small, there not common here at all...mayb one truck in evry ten thousand vehicles if your lucky...

iv found a tidy 85 4x4 silverado lwb

its a diesel and im just wondering what kind of power do they have?good or a bit sluggish?

petrol here is up to 2dollars a litre so i cant get a petrol, lpg is 1.00litre and diesle is 1.09 so im thinking thats my best option really

if any one can just give me a hint if there good trucks thatd be awesome

cheers guys

ps.off to the beach now a the surf is massive

They are good and reliable, the diesel was not made for power, they have about 150hp vs 190hp from a gas from the same year, BUT the diesel will give you much better mileage and should last a while.

i have never owned a diesel, but i have seen a few people running the 6.2 because of the current cost of gas.   they are not powerhouses, but they can get the job done.   a few mods and it can make some great torque.

hi new zealand, hope you have your 85 k10 diesel now.  one option that will help your hp, torque and mpg is a banks sidewinder turbo system.  they are still available from  http://www.bankspower.com/products/show/156/11  we have an 85 k10 but we swapped in a 1995 6.5 diesel with the banks sidewinder turbo system.

hope this helps

Is that one a right hand drive?  That would be different for us up here to see.  Been to Whangarei.  Neat place.
