87 TBI fuel line hoses?

1987 TBI new tank installation ....
is it necessary to use the fuel injection rated fuel line hose or is regular hose acceptable?
the FI rated hoses are 5-6 times more expensive. is the FI rated hose more important for the 3/8 feed?

When doing some work on a tbi in the past i bought the cheaper less strong line and it blew a hole in it.  Best to go with the FI rated.  Im pretty sure all the fuel works on a specific pressure thats higher than the older carbed trucks.

YOU MUST use FI hose on Fuel injection applications.

TBI only runs a max of 14PSI  its not much more than a carb pressure. Now if it was a vortec or TPI or LT1 I would use fuel injection hose.

Carbs run 5-7lbs, TBI is double that at 12-14lbs.
There is a reason they make EFI spec hose.

Good Gravy!   It's not that expensive esp. if your only replacing the 12" or so of the factory line. If you have to run front to rear you should run as mch as you can in hard steel line (like brakeline) then connect the ends with short pieces of F.I. spec rubber line. If your crunching numbers factor in the cost of replacing your truck when the carb spec line starts leaking and it burns to the ground.
