Hi,

I was posting in this section about my problem on my truck.
http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=5410.0

I thought of taking the bellhousing assembly with the clutch, fork on my GM 3/4 ton (original diesel tranny) and swap it on my 4x4 tranny (also original diesel ). Both of these truck had a engine swap
from diesel to gaz. Any difference between trannies on 4x4 and 2X4 ?
Both are 4 speeds (L-2-3-4)

Here are side view of the 2X4 tranny I removed this weekend, can someone identify which type it is ?

The bellhousing is still on the truck :

Here's a shot of my 4X4 tranny (I know it's not a good shot but it's raining outside and I had crawl under
on muddy ground)

Thanks for any helps guys :)

Ray.

Both are SM465s, which is what would have came in the factory.
The input output shafts I would verify especially if the 4x4 version came out of a diesel.  To swap them you need the input/output to match the current clutch and T-case

the tranny of the 2x4 and the 4x4 are different in the out put shaft  and the 2x4 is smaller them the 4x4 tranny dont put the 4x4 in a 2x4 it will hang down lower them the 2x4.

That is incorrect, it is the same transmission.  This post is 4 years old.  Please pay attention to the warning that comes up and don't post to old threads especially if the info is not correct.
