There are lots of companies that can make repairs nowdays. Goggle "rim repair" and you might be able to find one in your area.

Fitz: 16.5s come in several sizes, up to 14" wide, you just haven't had enough experience with them.

Do yourself a favor and look into getting tires first. I recently helped a co-worker get tires for his truck. It had 16.5s on it. Selection was extremely limited and all the local tires stores said that they were not available. He was going to have to order them on line.
He found a used set of 16in Aluminum rims and saved money and opened up his options for tires.
16.5s are being fazed out, before sinking money into them, be sure its worth it to you.

Yea I was looking at a 81 jeep j20 4wd and it had 16.5 rims and I couldn't find any tires for it, 16's are plentiful and you can't measure rim with from the outside, its measured from inside the beadseat area.

Measuring from the outside will give you the wrong width.

what size tires were you looking for?  36 and 37s are available everywhere.

Military surplus,  they have all kinds of extra take offs and time-outs from military hummvee.  36 12.50 goodyear wrangler bias ply and 37 12.50 goodyear radials, most are like new, or above 90% tread, Check craigslist in your area, they are usually like $400 for a set of 4, my buddy got his with rims for $400.

Then there is always others that you can buy new, but they are much more expensive.

I love the bfg all terrains, but they also have mud terrains in 35 and 37 12.50.

I bought two 16.5 Scramblers from Pepboys and two Firestones from anothe shop in town. I didn't really like either one. The Scamblers were crappy, one seperated and I don't trust Firestones. Mastercraft used to make some good 16.5s. I'm not sure if they still do. I couldn't find any down here.
