86 chevy stepside
« on: November 21, 2010, 04:30:13 pm »
This is my truck. Pretty close to being done. I need to put door panels in, seat belts, glue the carpet, stereo, install a dome light....Quite a few little things. The wheels are temporary as they were powdercoated extremely poorly(don't trust family with your stuff). Also today on a short test drive the passenger side tire came off, didnt damage wheel, but still makes me nervous because the person who mounted them did a lot of work on this truck(don't trust family) Well enjoy it or don't haha....

It looks like you did a good job of getting the lines to match up with that later model bed, and it definitely looks clean. How about some info on the drivetrain?

Drivetrain.....hahaha......4.3 v6, shorty pace setter headers off of 96-98 F/S.  Single 2 1/2 inch exhaust thrush welded muffler. Quadrajet 650 off of a 77. You have to cut some of the cross members under the newer bed is really the "secret". I hate to see them where they are like 2 inches too tall for the truck. Rest of the details..... One peice windows, McGaughys drop spindles, flip kit, roll pan, shaved tail gate handle........there is definetely a lot nicer trucks on here....

Man, that looks nice! One of the few bed swaps that turned out nice.  Future seat plans? Wheels are a shame. That red really pops! A red interior would go sweet with that.

Love the 4.3 too. 700R4?

I gotta ask, what part of your family messed things up? I know I don't trust anyone but my Father (ASE Master).

It was somebody who married into the family. It's been a real pain. I am glad to have it, super excited really. I love the truck had it since I was 15 Im 23 now. I think it'll be a lot of fun for me. The seat is newer in it. I am going to leave it, it has some really intricate kinda western pattern all over it you cant see in the pics. Thanks for the comments.
