cab swap

I have put a 2wd cab on a 4wd frame 87 chevy K10. Having trouble with the two rear mounts matching up. the cab needs extra lift to come in line with the pan. do the rear brackets that are riveted to the frame have to be changed? Any advise

Come in line with what pan? The trans tunel? I go by the body lines, and as far as I know the frame mounts should be the same.

after searching , this is the closest thing i could find. my cab is still sitting on the floor, but last night i noticed that the rear cross member that the rear cab mounts sits on is lower then my 84 frame. new frame is a 79. did the 79 year use taller rear mounts it about an inch difference. im putting a 3 inch body lift, wondering if i should move that rear bracket up or maybe just add an extra 1 inch to my lift at the rear?

You need the cab mounts the same year as the frame. 73, to 80 used different mounts than 81 and up frames.

     The tunnel in a 2wd and 4wd cab are not the same.  You will most likely have trouble clearing the transfer case, unless you modify the 2wd cab.  Do a search on this site and there are several threads on this topic.....Tom

you talking about the front tunnel only meaning high hump or low hump?

if so stick shift 2wds had the high hump same as all 4x4's. I aint sure if it was only floor shift 2wd's or ALL stick shift 2wds.

To make this work, you need the body bushings/mounts for the 87 Frame and to clear the trans tunnel with a 2WD floor you need a body lift, OR you need to cut out the floor from a 4x4 truck. (center section to clear the transfercase.

hes right i did this swap and i just stacked 2 cab mounts for the front of the cab and everything worked out fine. but if you are running a sm465 your gonna have to cut the crap out of you floor pan to make room for the top loader. but if you have a auto trans it will be fine
