temp gauge staying in the middle
« on: September 25, 2010, 12:45:37 pm »
hello again, ive been wondering lately if something is wrong with my gauge/sender for my temp system. when i startup it does the slow rise to the middle of the gauge (210) and stays there until the motor cools down. it doesnt heat up or change position at all when driving, laying on it or heavy load like trailering. I was wondering if it meant that the system wasnt working right, as the motor doesnt seem to be running that hot, and i have a 175(think) tstat. would this mean that the sender i have is for a dummy light or something? i heard they were different and dont know which i have.

any thought would be great

oh its a swapped in 350, dont know the age but it was rebuilt a few years back.

thanks
morgan

maybe it is running right in the middle, my 454 would do that and never move.  If the sender hooked up to your gauge its probably the right one, should be a little ring connection on the sender not the longer flat connection, if that helps.  If its really bugging you you could change the sender and see what happens they are cheap like 6 bucks or so.

like 74 said it should be right i think if you had the wrong sending unit it would work at all

If it is really bothering you, you could always put a mechanical guage on it.
