4 door cab on a 2 door frame?
« on: September 28, 2010, 04:43:02 am »
What would it take to make this swap. (I dont have the tools to fabricate right now)

the cab and bed on my 84 k10 is really bad, Ive found a 4 door cab at a resonable price. Will it fit and would a SWB bed work as well. Im just thinking this would be a cool and different look. ;D

I know its alittle far fetched but thought id ask.

I'm pretty sure you'd have to chop and extend the frame.  Find a 2 door cab.

i have heard of it being done before.   the back of the 4 door cab floor has to be notched out to allow it to sit right on the frame.  (because of the rise in the frame behind the 2 door cab).  takes some fabricating to close in the notches, but it can be done with little more than some 20 gauge metal, a grinder with a cutting wheel,  and a welder.

The back of the rear doors would have to be notched to fit on a short bed frame.
A burb's wheelbase is 129.5 vs 117.5 of a short bed.

Lots of fab work. Lots of cutting, making panels, and welding. Or stretch the frame.

you would have to cut about 15" off the front of the bed to make it work.
