NP203 to part time conversion?
« on: October 27, 2010, 12:01:04 am »
so i have a 75 blazer with an np203 transfer and i want to convert it to part time. i did some research and learned there are 2 types of kits-a shaft kit and some other conversion called a 501 which is much cheaper. now obviously you get what you pay for but if its not that big of a difference in quality then i want to go with what is cheaper. is the 501 worth buying or is it going to be a let down?

I have heard the shaft kit is much stronger, but I talked to a guy the other day that has been running the 501 or "wedge" kit for 20 years with no trouble at all.  Supposedly the 501 or wedge kit gets loose and sloppy.  Let me know if you find a shaft kit.  MM doesn't make it anymore and I have not been able to find one used.  I am still running mine stock instead of getting the 501.  If it comes time for a rebuild before I have found a shaft kit I will go with the 501, unless I get a deal on a NP205
