worth the time?
« on: November 13, 2010, 04:47:24 pm »
I am tired of replacing my belts on the citation every 6 months. It's in bad shape and needs a rebuild. That in mind, I've replaced my crank seal, and it's still leaking oil on my belts. I am considering a serpentine belt set-up from, let's say a buick century with an iron duke. Would this be a decent quick fix for now? I really like serpentine belts but is this feasible for my car? I know they never came that way from the factory but citations are similar mechanically to the fiero which had the serpentine belt.

All normal practicality and rational money handling goes out of the window when it comes to my truck.

First off congratulations on the citation!

2) i, personally, would look to remedy the situation---it would seem the cheapest way.  Pictures?   What brand of belts?

Thanks, I inherited 6 yrs ago. I'd like to restore it, but it's my dd and I've got the 77 on hold already. I bought the cheapie O'reillys belts last time and today I got their top of the line ones because they have a 1 yr warranty. Haha I'll take full advantage of that. No pics really, i have some of the car in my truck build if that's what you want to see. Belts are made by Gates
