is my motor shot

I have never driven this truck just bought it and started to do a frame off resto. I was told the motor was re built which now i am thinking it was not. I can tell however that it was worked on somewhat because i can see new gaskets where ever i look. I have just got the truck running and I know it is way out on the timing, wont idle real good, when i do get it to idle and than put it into gear it stalls, hard to start etc. However i was able to get it to idle today and when i did it would burn the eyes right out of your head. there was a fair amount of blue smoke coming out the tail pipes. So my question is am I now in the market for a new motor. I was really hoping that i could avoid getting a new motor. I really dont know when to say ...hmmm that motor is toast. Is blue smoke the end of a motor. I know some people are gping to say it might be the vales and just let it warm up, I ran it at idle for 20 mins and it is still smoking....HELP!!!

Is it carbed or TBI?
Sounds like to much fuel if the exhaust is burning eyes

it is carb, I am alos having carb problems. I am running a holley dont know what size. I just bought a quadrajet that was rebuilt but I am missing the bolt to bolt it down and also the part where the throttle cables goes through. I have no clue if i should just say whatever and go the the junk yard and get something else. I am starting to loose my mind with this truck I take 1 step forward and 3 back,

I am betting the carb is jetted wrong and you are loading up on fuel.
Have you pulled plugs to see if they are oil or fuel fouled?

my plugs are black as heck. Also did a compression they results are as follows.
121, 125, 121,141,
125,124,127,135 this is with all plugs out and just letting it turn over twice, i also only tighten the tester in hand tight. was told after i should have used a wrench.

Are they Black and dry, or black and wet?
DId they smell like gas?
The compression worries me. Which were the two Highest ones, 7 & 8?

The first thing I would check is the pcv. If it is clogged or not working properly oil will be forced out of all kinds of places. Also make sure your valve covers have baffles where the pcv and breather push in.

Sound like a vacuum leak, and since they “just rebuilt the motor” they probably never tested it. Then you over did the fuel ratio to compensate for the vacuum leak
