i swaped an LS motor but i stayed FI, i dont know why some would want to put a carb on it. it will run smoother, no problems starting, saves gas, the list goes on and on fuel injection is the way to go. but if you are stuck on going carb youll have to buy this expensive intake setup, and a carb $extra$. you can bolt any chevy transmission to the 5.3L motor, many people use th350, th400, and powerglides. they all work.

team39763 has a 6.0L with a carb, but it is a drag truck.
If you plan on driving it, I wouldn't get rid of the EFI.

even if it is going to be a drag truck, i would stay FI. As captkaos says i wouldnt get rid of the EFI either. to me you will be takings steps backwards insteaed of foward. if you want a carb just stay with an Gen1 SBC.
